So Nithya menon is the only 3rd Indian umpire to enter into 12 member Panel.   venkatraghavan,  Sundaram Ravi and now Nitin menon. By the way he is a mallu born in Indore.

Anil chaudhury should also be here. He is at least as good as him imo.

We must hype up our umpires more, especially when they do well. I remember during lockdown, in an Eng-WI test in Eng, both Pom umpires combined to give 7-8 decisions in favor of Eng in just 1 session, most of which were overturned by DRS. Yet the commies kept bigging up those guys.

Who were they?  I know Michael Gough has tremendous record of 94% accuracy. Erasmus has the least overturned umpire.

Gemini threw this

Only three Indian umpires have ever been part of the ICC Elite Panel. The umpires are:
  • Srinivas Venkataraghavan: A former India spinner, he was part of the original Elite Panel when it was introduced in 2002.
  • S Ravi: He was the second Indian umpire to be included in the panel in 2015 and remained until 2019.
  • Nitin Menon: He was inducted into the elite panel in June 2020 and is currently the only Indian representative in the 2025-26 panel.

All this batting depths and going with no proper spinner at Adelaide oval of all places hasn't counted for anything.

Ideall you want more specialists who can do a bit in other department. Starc is a classic example. I remember Bhuvi saving us in a few matches with bat.Just enough. We focus on depth only when have absolute duds with bat at 9/10/11.  LIke we have.  India lost a winnable first test thanks to two collapses 6 for 36 & 7 for 41. But England tailenders are capable batters.  Archer can bat. Carse can bat.

if you don't have basics covered these bits and pieces and batting depth gimmicks won't save you.

There's hardly any great spinner they are leaving out though.

Root and Brooks are proper FTBs. If pitch has assistance these 2 would pack the bag first. Darpok Brook is so bad against spin that he kept himself out of even ipl.

Han Bhaiyon kahan ho root fan club!! He is only second to williamson in terms of stats passing. Kallis looks Travis Head in front of Root.

Kallis the GOAT. RSA pitches in his time weren't easy to bat on. He also did amazingly well in SC.

Probably needed more of B grade attack, so he could sneak in another century. A walking wicket for top dogs like Cummins, Bumrah, Rabada.
