Not maximising his potential

On this wicket 31 means 70 or 80 runs on any other ground. Having said this is his first gig at no.3 He ended up being the highest scorer in the 2nd innings. Second highest in the first innings.

Now geniuses here are comparing this bozo to Kallis and Sanga . Majority of those geniuses were saying Sarfraz cannot be number 3 as he never batted there.

So most of those geniuses are saying Sundar  will be next Kallis or Sanga.

For them Sundar has magically ability , just like magic it is always invisible  never to be seen.

Not 100% on this but these players had good batting fc avg , if not wrong these are their avg pre test debut (roughly)

Dravid was already seen as v.good batter in Ind before his debut- He would have had FC avg of 50+ pre Intnl test debut

Sanga may not be v.highly talented in FC cricket as he was in intnl and improved as a batter alot in intnl level but he woulf have had 45+ FC avg pre test debut

Kallis was an allrounder if not wrong his FC avg pre test debut would have been around 35 which is v.good for SA for that time. think Kristen FC avg was 45+.

Back then time was different, test were not result oriented, teams or player had time to develop player as some1 doing good or not good would not impact the results much thats why so many player developed and improved year after year.

Only teams like Aus were capable to finding the issues with batters technique and use it their favour, unlike today there were not many player lining up for a single slot. With so many t20 leagues and every board has one players keeps poping up.

Unlike today previously batters can remain at same skill level and still be v.good , but now if they are not improving they are regressing as there is so much study goes on.

It has been almost four years since this guy Sundar made his test debut and eight years since he made his FC debut. He has three FC 100s one which came in test match. But he magically becomes number 3.

They have turned this into a joke.Who puts guy like Sundar at Number 3 and Jurel at number 5.

Chanakya Gambhir,

Inspite of having Paddikal and Sai in the squad

It was a good move and believe me Sai wouldn’t have done as well as Sundar.

I want Gambo to stick with Washi.

Some fans are trying to make it about picking allrounders and stuff but this was a lottery pitch. Batting 4th is always difficult on such surfaces.

Sundar should be persisted with. He is no Ashwin with ball. He can be moulded into pure batter who can bowl part time. Just persist with him and Jurel in batting line up. Sai will have to wait.

Washington Sundar has test batting average of 30.34 whereas that of Sai Sudarshan is 30.33. A diferrence of .01 which is very negligible.

There is nothing to say that one is better than the other in terms of runs scored. Both are giving similar perfirmances with the bat in test format.

Washington averages 43.21 with the bat. 30.34 is his bowling average.

Bashir is a far inferior spinner compared to washi. He can't bat either. Yet England persists with him as they feel tall off spinners like him will have a lot to offer. Here we have a guy who bamboozled Inform Brook purely with his drift not once bit twice is treated like part timer. In NZ series Washi totally outbowled Ashwin.  Besides he is not running against Ashwin. He is competing with an ordinary bowler like Axar.

From cricinfo

Washington Sundar faced more balls across two innings in Kolkata than anyone on either side, and was the only batter to go past the 50-ball mark twice. And he did this with a control percentage of 88.51.

He did this at No. 3, having walked in inside the first ten overs of both innings, on a pitch where the ball was at its worst behaviour when it was new and hard.

He did this while batting at No. 3 for the first time in his Test career

Sundar's bowling would be much more respected if his 2024 efforts against NZ had resulted in wins for India.

He took 16 wkts in 3 tests at an avg of 14.xx (with both Ashwin and Jadeja in the team!!). But the batsmen botched it up, the team was humiliated and his bowling efforts were largely forgotten

He bowled Rachin three times in that series in 2 tests inidentical fashion Ala Ashwin vs Cook. That is classic off spin.  I understand Gambir has this weird match up obsession even in Tests. But why do fans under rate his bowling skills?  I consider him as a better bowler than batsman. Just that they refuse to give him.longer spells. When they bring him on it is invariably one over before lunch. He even made that work at the Edgbaston.

I like this move though more suited to no. 5. Should get more backing here but also should get bowling more

Rohit did the same at the MCG. Brought him on around 70th over and he struck immediately. Idea of all rounders is to get most out in both departments

Seems like Sai had extended session. He will replace Gill..But who will replace Axar. I say Ruturaj. He is in tremendous form.  Also plays spin better than Gill.

Jaiswal

Kela

Sai

Ruturaj

Pant

Jurel

Jadeja

Sundar

Kuldeep

Siraj

Bumrah
