HE couldn't even pick simple off spin. We invariably blame the one guy who looks in control while ignoring the 6 clueless guys surrounding him. Sundar is not Kapil dev to play counterattacking innings. He did play in a no lose situation. He can play. But he put a premium on his wicket. It is very very hard to bat like Sundar than what the hacks try to do. You can easily try to attack and get out. I disagree. Pant has always batted in that manner specially when wickets around him have fallen. Take test in BD as an example. He has the best defence pace or spin.

First time i see him genuinely struggling to pick what was coming. 23 balls 5 runs 18 dots 5 singles. Edited November 21, 2025 by vvvslaxman

Why not? There you go @vvvslaxman Abhishek Sharma, Rinku Singh and even Tilak (who I feel will tuk tuk in tests ). There you go, I gave you 3 modern era names. Sarfaraz at home will be an asset. maniac 1

I am going to be honest I watched the test in bits and prices so going by what you wrote. My point was more towards controlled aggression.

cowboysfan Posted November 21, 2025 Posted November 21, 2025 we just cant play spin, unless you admit it you will keep losing games at home. Lord 1

He looked out of sorts in a home test against England on a challenging wicket. This is the game where Jurel dragged us from the jaws of defeat to a winnable position, scoring 90 odd. Gambhir tweeted then that centuries are milestones while 90s win the game for the team or something to that effect. maniac 1

Dismissed solid looking Sundar both innings with his offbreaks.

If you want consistent approach you cannot go to both extremes. You have to strike a balance like what SA did in WTC final. Just punished the bad ball albeit pitch got easier. We didn't or don't do that punishment if bad balls. We go into a shall. Score at 2 rpo. There's no balance it's just ultra defensive

Jaiswal foolishly got out twice to semers on a spinning wicket much like Rohit did against Henry on a spinning wicket.
maniac Posted November 21, 2025 Author Posted November 21, 2025 Gotta say the T20 selection is even worse Vaibhav is the only real deal. The bowling is depressing.

There's no balance it's just ultra defensive But you have to see how Stubbs batted. He just couldn't get to grips with pitch on the same surface. That is called assessing conditions. If 2 more guys had batted exactly like Sundar we would have walked this target. He had a control percentage of 88. His role was to keep wicket sfrom falling. But if you keep losing from other end that is not his fault. You are not up against time here. You have 3 whole days left. That is exactly how Bavuma batted. He made runs. If you can't even defend how can you attack on a difficult pitch. Edited November 21, 2025 by vvvslaxman

Jaiswal, pant (who knows what he does, he like is shakini, rolls the dice).

No we should have destroyed each and every team the way we played last year before GIll.
