Yeah, now with Olympics, CT in T20 format (already proposed for 2029 edition), it will be overkill.

Again silly objection for the sake of objecting. It was agreed during CT 2025 that India will not travel to Pakistan and in return Pak will get to play WT20 2026 games in SL. Not sure why we are acting surprised now? Where was CT 2025 Finals played?

 

Also not sure why are we bringing Asia cup into this discussion which is not an ICC tournament. India has not hosted any Asia cup since 1990s and would not have hosted this one as well. This has nothing to do with arm twisting by Naqvi.

 

If anything, India arm twisted them to travel India to play WC 2023 after we refused to visit their country just a month ago in Asia cup.

 

Jay Shah has been one of the best BCCI supremo we had. Your hate is unwarranted.

We don't tour Pak due to security reasons. No reasons to bend over backwards in some sort of reciprocal agreement

You were also claiming BCCI won't let finals be in hybrid settting when I said it was actually in pipeline after Asia Cup.

India has not hosted any Asia Cup since the 1990s. Even in 2018, the BCCI hosted the entire tournament in Dubai after Pakistan came to India for the 2016 WT20. The BCCI doesn’t consider it a big enough tournament to take on the hassle of hybrid models or complex arrangements.

 

Pakistan got to host the 2023 Asia Cup largely because of Ganguly. Ramiz Raja managed to convince Dada and agreed that both the 2023 Asia Cup and the 2025 Champions Trophy would be played in Pakistan. But when the time came, the Indian government intervened and the BCCI pushed for the Asia Cup 2023 to be held under a hybrid model.

 

Remember, this was Pakistan’s first multi-nation tournament since the 1996 World Cup. Even then, the Pakistan team came to India for the 2023 World Cup because they assumed India would reciprocate for the 2025 Champions Trophy since it’s an ICC event.

 

When India refused to travel for the 2025 Champions Trophy, a deadlock occurred and Pakistan was understandably upset. A compromise was then made: Pakistan would also not travel to India for the 2026 WT20.

 

You may criticise Jay Shah as much as you want, but he is the one who made the Asia Cup relevant again. For years it was a dying tournament that kept getting cancelled. It was only after he became ACC President that the Asia Cup regained significance.

That will not fly bro. Remember every team was playing in Pakistan for Champions trophy - Eng, Aus, SA everyone. So there was no way to prove that only India has security issues there. Remember it was pre Pahalgam and when our players used to almost kiss each other.

Pakistan is enemy country to India not other so security assessment is much different. That it harbours terrorists is well known.

 

India played CT on condition of playing outside Pak and they relented coz they wanted India to participate (for money)

 

We have no such need. If they don't want to come to India, pull out like their hockey team did.

I am always baffled that some Indians have no consideration for indian lives lost by enemy actions.

 

I have not seen any other country with this mentality, be it Ukrainians or Israel where their own citizens will make excuses of wanting to play the enemy who kills their citizens. 

 

It's unique to Indians that they don't value the lives of their fellow countrymen.
