Modiji yesterday had Mann ki baat but talked on other issues. Opposition is also not bothered and focussing on irrelevant issues Unless this becomes a votebank issue no one would do anything. If govt take strict actions to control pollution like shut down factories and ban ice vehicles, it is only going to create problems for people. So nothing is going to change overnight. And it isn't just about Delhi. The whole region from Punjab to UP suffers from this issue.

In the colony my grandmother lives aunties complained a lot when there was a ban on single use plastic. Its back with gusto despite being banned. In london and nyc they brought in a congestion charge to reduce pollution. Good luck trying to implement that. Our people have issues with toll roads. Are people the govt to implement laws rules etc. our people have issues with till roads because there are potholes on the roads Lord 1

Aam admi is under criticized and over appreciated. Completely agree. Govt cannot do anything when you have a highly indisciplined population.

Bane of india... 18 hours ago, pkmmamks said: Are people the govt to implement laws rules etc. our people have issues with till roads because there are potholes on the roads Any medicine is bitter...has short term losses but long term benefits. Pot holes are created due to lots of issues. Poor quality surface (in relation to weather) is one of them. The other vehicular density and overloaded trucks (too heavy). Municipal budgets due to lack of taxes cannot keep repairing them.

diga Posted February 16 Posted February 16 All kinds of pollution in India... including unnecessarily bright lights during festivals ( no bird can sleep not can we see night sky) and noise pollution due to speakers. People just don't understand what simple living means

People just don't understand what simple living means I’ve had friends and relatives come visit me in Canada. I live in a quiet neighbourhood with easy access to hiking trails, the ocean, and even rock climbing. But almost all of them say Canada feels “boring.” They’re just not into nature or quiet at all. They can’t really sit still, relax, and just hang out with a dog or watch the sunset. What’s ironic is that a few of them have high BP and don’t seem to realize that the nonstop noise and chaos probably add to it. Pollution of any kind can shorten your life span over time. diga 1

Most indian brains are used to millions of them moving in the noisy streets. MOST of them cannot tolerate the silence. It feels terrifying to them.

During covid when price was cheap to fly in Canada, went to the rockies in Vancouver/Alberta. Went up the mountain ... these international students were blasting bangra music and dancing, broken alcohol bottle and litter all around. Like bro, decency is not even a thing for many of these guys. India honestly need to do something about these kind of behaviour. China somewhat changed alot from before, unsure what the indian government is doing about this. Brushing it under the carpet as "our culture" is just not good enough at this point if you want to be a power house country. Pollution can be caused by many things, but cultural aspects like blasting fireworks nonstop, litter, doing your business in public, etc needs to be overridden to make it work.
