South Africa exposed big chinks in both Surya and Jaiswal's batting, they are not bowling on Sky's body or leg side and Jaiwsal is struggling with balls on the 6th and 7th stump line and lack of good footwork is hampering him.the immediate concern is Sky's form on how he will counter with balls only on his offside as he just cant score at all at the moment.

Jaiswal is several levels above Surya. Opening is a tough gig. You will get some good balls on a length and you can play indecisively from time to time. It is not exclusive for Jaiswal.  Look at Jo root. Repeatedly getting out edging to slips

Finally sense prevails. Good team selection. Look at the line up as two players at a time.

Openers:

1. Abhishek

2. Samson (back up opener -Kishan)

Middle order:

3. Tilak

4. SKY

5. Dube

6. Rinku

Lower order/all rounders

7. Hardik

8. Axar (back up : Washington)

Bowlers

9. Varun (back up : Kuldeep)

10. Arshdeep

11. Bumrah (back up Rana)

I think in indis kuldeep has to play.

Arshdeep dropped and open with pandya.

This selection just shows how confused the Agarkar is as a selector.

Its not just agarkar and nothing to do with confusion , its common in Ind cricket system-- winning is not the 1st priority, if they do well in bi-laterals its good for them.

Chahal played ever game before the wcs and not been able to make to playing 11 in ICC events , what were they thinking ????

Ashwin was not playing any T20is and suddenly he makes in to the wc side, a wc that was in Aus.

Now with Sundar is he t20i material, why can not some batter bowl 2 overs of off-spin if that is needed that badly, why not to develop some1 like other teams have.

I disagree winning was priority before these two bozos came into picture.India was getting to semis every time except one and then final before breaking thru in last t20.

Mistakes happen under every selection but selecting a guy who was not even part of the squad for two plus years .Sundar has proved again and again he stinks, why not look for any alternative, they had all the time.

I will play both Varun and Kuldeep . In subcontinent, HAVING BOTH THE WRIST SPINNERS IS A MUST especially in SL . Shivam has a weakness against express pace and I would play one of either Shivam or Rinku dependending on batting form . Batting till 7 is sufficient for a T20I match in subcontinent .                            Abhishek Sharma can roll his hand in bowling if one of the bowlers has an off-day.  PS SKY NEEDS TO REGAIN HIS BATTING FORM in NZ SERIES .

Sundar is a waste of a spot in this format, I would have gone for Parag.

Sundar won't start and is a bowling all rounder in this format, so treat him like a backup for Axar. Parag is more a batting all rounder who will get his chance once we move on from Dube

No its not just one or 1st instance ::

Pant kept on playing t20is with sr of 123, same with dhoni he had a sr of below 120 for a long time in t20is.

Long back they said Jadu and Ashwin are not suited for t20is and white-ball and will only be considered for tests but they went on to play ICC WCs.

Kolhi and Rohit were out of T20is after the t20i wc in Aus and suddenly they got to the wc team. Selectors said they were not dropped but preparing for Odi wc.

Kl still plays Test even if his avg is ~35.

Do not think so much is just because they are confused

Pleasantly shocked that Gill was dropped! Didn't expect this from the clueless selectors and team management and now we only have one passenger in SKY which we can manage :yay:

Starting XI:

Abhishek

Samson (wk) (backup Ishan)

Tilak

SKY (c)

Axar (backup Sundar)

Rinku

Pandya

Dube

Arshdeep (backup Harshit)

Bumrah

Varun C (backup Kuldeep)

If it's a spin friendly pitch then drop Arshdeep and replace him with Kuldeep or Sundar. If Kuldeep is picked then open the bowling with Pandya else open with Sundar.

I think Sundar is cover here for Axar

That's how it should be. Sundar as a replacement for Axar, Harshit as a backup for one of the pacers, Kuldeep as a backup for Varun C.

Good squad. Good to see Gill and Jitesh left out

Gill's neck spasm saved the day

Would have liked Parag instead of Sundar. Apart from that, not much to complain

I think we will have only 3 specialist bowlers in the xi out of Boom/Arsh/Harshit/KD

rest we need two ARs to be 4th and 5th bowlers..to support specialists

Team rely on Pandya and Axar for this role if anyone isnt avlbl for some reason bowling will get affected..

Pandya may be covered by Dube but in Indian tracks spin AR becomes cruicial and thats where Sundar can be a good bsckup for Axar given that he can bowl in PP too..

6th bowlers can be Dube and Abhishek as they will always be in xi..

Also to add..Parag hasnt lit up domestic since he came back from injury unless I am missing something..Though I would like him to develop is carrom

bowls and variation control lot more so that if gives us a 4th attacking bowling option too in future

Parag should make the ODI squad.. for t20 to bat at 7/8, a bowling all rounder like Sundar makes sense more than a batting all rounder like Parag

Parag is also an AR. Can bowl both leg spin and offspin. Fields better and is a bigger hitter.

batting orders are flexible. Also if we lose early wickets he will provide better depth.

his bowling is good too and can bowl leggies to RHBs.
