It is astonishing they still have not come to a conclusion

all of this started with the stupid decision to firat include fizz in the auction & then ban him after he got picked. The level of incomptence at BCCI is astonishing.

Either they separate politics from sports or go full.l monty. This half passed cancel culture because of social media pressure invites scorn and criticism. Utter lack of professionalism.

If they refuse to comply with the fine. They seem to belive that they can do anything & there will be no repurcurrsions, like running away with the trophy that India won. You need to put the foot down & make it clear it is the end of cricket for them if they go beyond their limits.

Did they fine PCB for locking up the trophy? That would be a good start ... while at it, fine BCCI for dragging dirty politics and no handshake drama into this. Matter of fact, did we ever get that trophy back?

fine BCCI for what? what rule states they should shake hands? its has become acceptable practice between waring nations, legitamiced by the west. Ukr. players refused to shake hands with Russians & while they were initially punished for it, after uproar it was reversed. So, what BCCI did wasn't unprecedented.

I agree that BCCI has been toothless on the trophy issue.

There are no rules or law that prevents it but, looks bad on us. Espacially when the Indian players started this while the political leaders of both countries have no issue shaking hands and unfortunetly this trend was witnessed in the U19 WC - this was absolutely shamefull. So no law was prevented but politics were injected into the game for political high5 points.

If the most of the western, so called civilized world, deemed it is acceptable for Ukranians to not shake hands of ppl representing a country that is killing their citizens then it should be acceptable for India to do the same.

Indian players were infact fined for bringing up Op Sindhoor references & certain gestures. The Aussies refused to play Afg. players who hardly represent Taliban for actions of Taliban, when the western countries have power they utilize it, they sanction who they want. When we have power we lecture ourselves about norms, order. If I have a criticism about BCCI it is the fact that they aren't consistent, become toothless when they need to be ruthless for ex. their inaction on the trophy.

I don't think we are talking about the same thing. My point is, if you want to use politics in sports, might aswell apply the same rule in politics itself. Or else shoot it and kill it and dont mix politics in sports (no matter which sport). Your point is just becase they did it, why shouldn't we. My point is 2 wrong doesn't make a right. Don't tell players not to shake hands and then gov officials have no issue doing so. That's my point.

If someone killed my family member, I too would not want to shake their hands. I can also ask you not to shake your hands but behind, am busy shaking my killer's hands. You see where the problem is?

If india has adopted same stance as ukraine and banned Pakistan for EVERYTHING, then the world would be with them

Surely you can understand why the no handshakes drama while playing every tournament in the same group is ridiculous and sends mixed messages to the world?

When did ukraine do such a thing?

I agree that BCCI has been toothless on the trophy issue.

Ukrainian athletes refuse to shake hands with Russians. But they are consistent with that policy throughout, complete boycott. In chess tournaments also, no handshake with even Russian opponents who have shifted base to another country or condemned the war, despite it being a forefit as per rules. Also in most sporting competitions wherever possible, they try to avoid any contact with Russian athletes, by either asking the federation not to invite them together or boycotting them. In the Kolkata event we host annually, Ukrainian players like Muzychuk and Korobov have declined invitation every time because of the presence of Russian players. They make organizers choose wherever possible. And in many instances they have been instrumental in kicking Russia out, imagine a chess Olympiad with no Russia or Olympics without them, that is a reality now. So many talented MMA fighters have switched federations because of the sanctions, pressure, all spearheaded by the brave and defiant Ukrainians.

Same with Iran-Israel, Armenia-Azerbaijan, in fact athletes from those countries have even given walkover in Olympics when paired together.

India is the opposite. We push to play a pointless tourney Asia Cup when wounds of Pahalgam are still fresh. SKY shakes hands with Naqvi in opening ceremony but makes a U turn after SM backlash by BJP IT cell. We are paired together in every competition (countries like Ukraine, Armenia do their level best to ensure they aren't paired with enemies). Pak players (including hatemongers like Shahid Afridi) are invited to India run T20 competitions, only SM backlash makes them abandon them like the legends league in Eng last year. Trade with Pak/BD hasn't stopped, Wagah circus restarted barely a week after Sindoor, medical tourism with BD patients is still ongoing. Then Jaishankar goes to Dhaka and grovels before Khaleda Zia's son, writes a love letter about how great his mother was for fostering Ind-BD ties....there 'laser eyes' also found time to chill with the Pak representative. BD players are allowed in auction, bought for 10 cr, nothing done pre-emptively.

Nobody does it like India, half-baked policies which makes no sense. You ask the same question to our FM and he will give 2 different answers on 2 days, and IT cell losers will rush in defending them as masterstrokes. Nobody respects doglas.

ABDV is one of the most pro-India goras you will find, and he is a genuine bloke, not PR driven.

Even he condemned the no-handshake drama. Why wouldn't he? Especially when we happily moved the tournament outside India just to face Pak, got put in same group (again), and in general even the goras would have noticed how Ind/Pak are in the same group every single tournament (ICC/ACC) for the past 15 years. Also not to forget the fact that SKY had no issues doing handshakes with Naqvi, Agha in opening ceremony.

Anyway I won't blame SKY here, guy is in self-preservation mode and anyway he is small fish. IT cell bhaands will of course do their grotesque dance every time targetting cricketers, celebs, because they are defenceless prey. They don't have the guts to go after HM's son or even Modi govt for their phattu policy.

Ultimately, all this grandstanding by Ind/BD is related to politics.

BD would never have gone so far if not for the February election. Now Awamis are dead and buried, and all other parties are in a race to show how much anti-India they are, Yunus and his cronies want to show they can take on the big bad bully next door, even at the cost of finishing BD cricket for good.

For Ind, it boils down to Bengal/Assam polls. Expect to hear more noise about BD in coming months, of course GOI doesn't have what it takes to put BD in their place, so eggs/hilsha/pulses/rice trade will continue unabated. Just easy targets and SM influenced decisions like the late ban on Fizz.

Real victims are SENA, SL, WI, associates etc. who have to endure this stupid drama every time, one they didn't sign up for.

Firstly, Ukraine didn’t ban Russia from Everything, the fact that their athletes refused to shake hands with Russians in various events is itself self explanatory that they didn’t or couldn’t ban Russians.

Neither am I advocating to ban PCB just because there are political problems with them.

what exactly has the world done when PCB chairman refused to hand the trophy to the winners unless he can make a political spectacle by

forcing the Indian team to get it? No one cares unless you stand up for yourself.

India shouldn’t play Pakistan in the same league unless it is truly random. Hence my criticism that BCCI lacks consistency.

But it’s disingenuous to claim drama when Indian public had no issues shaking hands previously, just like Ukrainian who prior to 2022 had no issues shaking hands with Russians even though the invasion of Ukraine had started in 2014. The precipitating factor was Pahalgam, despite the initial missteps of fraternising with Naqvi.

Ah! The gora approval card!

Why should we worry about whiteman’s approval? They would ban Russian athletes because their country invaded another while being mute spectators when USA invades & still hosts the Olympics.

Indians refusing to handshake is drama for whiteboy while Aussies refusing to play afghan bilaterally is principle stand.

only whitemen can decide what is principle & what is drama.

Global perception matters. There is a reason why a puny country like Qatar is punching above its weight, despite all the skeletons in its closet.

Let us not compare ourselves to a superpower like USA.

I want India to dominate cricket, on the field, financially, in the boardroom. But we aren't winning there right? ECB, CA still call the shots when it comes to rules/laws (rigged in their favor), pitch ratings. Eng keeps hosting WTC finals and BCCI can't do **** about it. All we have is money courtesy Indian viewership, and we flaunt it like the new rich. No long term strategy/planning, vision. Dehatiness and these useless stunts won't help Indian cricket in any way.

Punishing Pak by throwing them out of ACC was the correct way forward. But we shifted our tournament outside only to play them and filled their exchequer. What do no-handshake stunts mean when you filll their pockets at a time they are desperate for money?

Hyping up this Ind-Pak rivalry, putting them in our groups all the time, only feed their sem2sem delusions. We must learn to be smart and ruthless like the goras.

Your first two paras acknowledges it isn’t about principles, but what you can get away with based on your might.

I clearly stated fine PCB & BCB for their stunt, as PCBs request of neutral venue was accepted based on reciprocity, but it still wants to not play in the final moment & BCB is attempting a similar concession because of IPL which is a domestic league. BCCI won the battle of perception based on the votes. So now If they refuse these fines (there were reports BCB going for international arbitration) then ban them till they learn they can’t take everything for granted.

while I concede the the inconsistency issue & criticise BCCI for mishandling fizz issue, I will not criticise them when they hold their ground because on another occasion they didn’t.

This is the main thing.

They truly believe Ind-Pak matches fuel ICC coffers.

Jan 3:

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) drop Mustafizur Rahman from the squad on instructions from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), causing uproar in Bangladesh’s cricket fraternity. Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul says he has “instructed the BCB to ask the ICC to shift Bangladesh's World Cup matches to Sri Lanka.” He also asks the “information and broadcast adviser not to broadcast the IPL in Bangladesh.”

Jan 4:

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) formally requests the ICC to relocate Bangladesh’s T20 World Cup matches outside India, with the board refusing to send the national team to India due to security concerns, heeding the government’s advice. The board, however, also announces Bangladesh’s 15-member squad for the tournament.

Jan 5:

The Bangladesh interim government decides to suspend the broadcast of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season.

The ICC and BCB hold a virtual meeting, with ESPNcricinfo reporting that the cricket’s global governing body rejected Bangladesh’s venue relocation request and informed the BCB that they would be risking forfeiting points if they do not go to India for the World Cup.

The BCB informs that no such ultimatum was issued by the ICC.

Jan 8:

The BCB pens a second letter to the ICC, reiterating its relocation request.

Jan 12:

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul once again reaffirms the stance of not going to India for the World Cup, while mentioning three points highlighted by the ICC Security team regarding Bangladesh and Mustafizur Rahman if they travel to India for the World Cup.

Jan 13:

The BCB reaffirms its decision not to travel to India for the T20 World Cup, citing security concerns, during a video conference with the ICC. During the meeting, the ICC urges the BCB to reconsider its position.

Jan 17:

An ICC delegate arrives for a meeting with the BCB, as talks between the two continue.

Jan 18:

A report by ESPNcricinfo states that the BCB has been handed a deadline of January 21 to reconsider its stance on not travelling to India.

Jan 20:

Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Nazrul says Bangladesh will not accept any unreasonable conditions if the ICC creates pressure on the country “under the influence of the Indian Cricket Board.”

Jan 21:

The ICC rejects Bangladesh’s relocation request in a video conference, with a report from ESPNcricinfo claiming that the BCB was given a day’s time to confer with the government and decide whether it would send the team to India for the World Cup. The ICC also issues a press release stating that it is keeping the T20 World Cup schedule unchanged, with Bangladesh’s matches in India.

So, Ball is in Kangaloos court.

BCB has been sacrificed by PCB. IF BCB guys have any brain, They would not have started this whole saga. Now if there was a common sense BCB guy, It will ask PCB to boycott tournament or they are participating in world Cup.

If there was a Shrewder BCB guy, He would talk to Jay Shah, Ask him that he is going to get Pakistan pulled out of tournament, Makes PCB to pull out of tournament and then sends the Bangaldeshi Team to India.

But as I said, Bhadralok gene is in Bangaldeshis, They will do nothing schematically other than argue .
