They’ve got no defense capability and are just taking out their frustration / deficiency on their neighbors with some drones. Won’t be long before they are entirely secluded. The entire region including EU is losing patience n publicly denouncing their acts. It would be wise to distance oneself from this regime. There’s no sense nor benefit politically otherwise. This should be obvious. Anyways with more deployments sent in (primarily for the strait) - I expect one more week of this and then it will be a slow burn albeit at a much lower intensity / no real impact. An attempt will be made to secure the strait meanwhile. Judging from Israel’s comments today and also Trump yesterday, I expect they r gonna declare completion of “objectives” and move on to the strait anytime in the next 7 days. Also looks like EU is willing to participate in securing the strait. They have to as they know it very well that it will be their economies that are gonna be affected the most. Iran would have taken out significant capacity by the time nato forces the strait open. Even today kuwait has had drones hit a big refineray.

F22 is even higher headache to maintain as one report said one hour of flight by F22 requires 10 hours of maintenance on the ground. Radar with high % of GaN will be able to detect these stealth jets. F35 is stealtheir for GaAs radars, but GaN js able to detect them. I think I read somewhere that a Rafale was able to detect F35 in a battle mockup, and Rafale's radar has GaAs. We need our systems to be integrated on those jets. It's like choosing apple vs choosing Linux. Sure the apple does most jobs well but for people with a budget , Linux performs just as well too. Stick with Rafales, Sukhois and probably get a good engine deal going on while we build our LCAs. The whole **** with LCAs started because the engine dealer is refusing to play ball. singhvivek141 1
bsriharsha Posted March 20 Posted March 20 Sure the Americans might offer us some 30 F35s but Indians are fixed that they want tech transfer as part of the deal. We don't do the Chinese **** bit of reverse engineering. But we need technology transfer for future reliance.

We too made some very immature decisions 1. How did we design a fighter jet with a single engine variant only, when it's pretty much given that single engine jet need to have an absolutely sorted engine. Kaveri wasn't even started. Should have planned first with a dual engine variant. 2. Navy rejected the naval variant of LCA coz they wanted a dual engine variant, was Navy not onboarded with the plan for LCA. 3. Delinking of Kaveri from Tejas, that just killed the point 1 and made LCA dependent on F404 4. Delay is procuring additional F404 engines, not sure why HAL was sleeping when it was evident that IAF will ask for more. Once GE shut the assembly down they can come up with "x","y","z" excuse to delay the delivery bsriharsha 1

bsriharsha Posted March 20 Posted March 20 I draw parallel to designing a thing being open to the engine later. That was what brawngp had done. This is afterall in a much larger scale than F1 but the need does remain that the rest of the parts need to be aligned regardless of whatever engine we guys choose.
