As time passes people have started putting him on a pedastal forgetting all his flaws. I am just there to remind those people about his flaws.

Sachin when was younger could play with vertical elbow to square of the wickets but that shot was not there once he started having elbow injuries. There is a reason why he stopped playing cover drive during 241 innings. Sachin had very limited behind square of the wicket on offside. Viv was predominantly an onside player who also could play on frontfoot on offisde but also had limited strokes square of the wicket on offside. Every player has weakness.Kohli scoring almost 10000 runs with his weakness is testament to his resolve. Shot behind square of wicket shot is not natural for subcontinent players especially RHB.Only players I can think Gundappa, Zaheer Abbas ,Mahela and Sehwag because they had very high back lift. Sorry Sachin/Viv's weakness and Chokohli's do not even compare!!! His weakness was the reason for his downfall and something he just could not overcome.

Apart from a couple of shots like vertical batted packfoot bunch and whipped lofte drive of midwicket it is very much in the mould of Sunil Gavaskar who had all the shots. Just that he didn't use all of them. here is 100 in 94 where you can see him pulling hooking, square cutting on driving. SObers is also doing commentary on this innings Fast forward to 1994 Off drive 4 Loftedn straightish on drive 4 On drive for 4 Clip through fine leg for 4 Backfoot cover drive for 4 ( commie says tendulkar played with semi striaght bat) flick through leg for 4 straightis off drive for 4 siganture straight drive 4 Lofted straight over bowler down the wicket 6 Over mid wicket for 4. Tendulkar had nimble foot against spin also he had a pretty neutral stance and ability to pick the length mcuh quicker than most. So he was able to adjust easily. His only trouble was ball that seamed back. ....
vvvslaxman Posted January 16 Posted January 16 This is one innings he cross batted a lot against shane warne successfully. Remeber how Warne used to bamboozle batsman from the rough outside the leg. He hit a six off the frontfoot.
deepdynamo Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Kohli could have stayed for current WTC cycle. 10k Test runs is an elite milestone. Don't see anyone reaching 10k runs in next 10 years from India.

Kohli himself had enough and quit test cricket after years of futile struggles. If anything, he should be appreciated for leaving the stage without clinging to hopes of personal milestones like 10k test runs, 100 international hundreds etc.
Gollum Posted January 16 Posted January 16 Jaiswal has already played 28 tests, Gill 40. Jaiswal gets 90 runs per match on average Gill 71 runs per match Kohli was at 75, Sachin close to 80 Do you really see any future Indian player getting to 120 tests?
