Gollum Posted January 22 Posted January 22 (edited) Like the choice of venues. Rare BCCI W. Vadodara Rajkot Indore Nagpur Raipur Guwahati Vizag T'puram (Sanju playing, Tharoor in attendance ) T20 WC: Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Delhi Always play low-stakes bilaterals in B and C venues. Reserve Wankhede, Eden, Kotla, Chepauk, Dharamsala (tourism reasons) etc. only for tests against SENA and ICC events. Out of these 8 featured in Ind-NZ, only Vizag deserves to host big games, always gives us great pitches and crowds. Maybe swap it with a B grade venue like Ahmedabad. deepdynamo Posted January 22 Posted January 22 India shouldn't play full strength in this series. Give opportunities to all players- Rana, Kuldeep, Iyer should get few games as well.
Nikhil_cric Posted January 22 Posted January 22 Traditionally, another tough venue like Nagpur but considering the run fest we saw at VCA, they might make an unprecedented flat track to negate Santner and allow our batting lineup to outbat NZ. On a normal track, even 160+ can be defended here

They are making sure Kiwis don't get accustomed to the venue and surfaces. Edited January 22 by Lone Wolf
vvvslaxman Posted January 22 Posted January 22 This NZ team can easily beat our current Indian team if they target the right guys. I am sure NZ will come out with solid plan next time for Abhishek.

Yeah but if you look at the T20 + T20I history here, it's a different story. We played Australia here 2 years ago, scored 174 and restricted them to 157 or something. Spin was tough to play. But it looks like India are hellbent on giving nothing to Santner. We should bat first anyway. Lone Wolf 1

Spin pitches against Aus/NZ/RSA, I have zero trust in our guys. Against Poms, we should do well on turners.

Spin/slow pitches will reduce the gap between us and even teams like PAK with Nawaz, Shadab and Abrar. I'm only worried about Australia on flat decks. They have the firepower , at full strength, to challenge us. On flatter tracks, I don't see any of NZ/PAK/SA challenging us consistently.

If things go as per plan (seedings pre-decided, doesn't matter who tops the 1st group stage), we will play Aus in Super 8s in Chennai. Our SF opponent will be Eng/NZ/SL/Pak. Can't meet Aus, RSA there, because they will be in our Super 8 group. So if we are to face Aus a second time, it will be like 23 WC repeat....group stage in Chennai and final in Ahmedabad. I'll be worried facing Australia in Wankhede and Motera the most. Don't want to face any SENA side in Wankhede in fact. Nikhil_cric 1

Eden will be most preferable one against a SENA nation
deepdynamo Posted January 23 Posted January 23 I am worried about only one scenario- flat pitch IND batting first in a KO against SA/Aus with dew in second inning.

Hope GG and co. are preparing meticulously for not only each venue but for each pitch at these venues. I really hope our analyst has ball tracking data for each pitch and ball by ball data from domestics for each pitch. At both Chennai and Ahmedabad, not every pitch behaves the same , depending on the soil mix.

Frustrated Posted January 23 Posted January 23 (edited) 1 hour ago, deathmonger said: Due to Axar injury, Kuldeep might get a look-in. Don't think so. Coz Kuldeep replacing Axar means 4 proper tailenders who don't even know how to hold a bat. Plus, Kuldeep has been our worst spinner across all 3 formats against NZ. (Incl crucial games such as WC2023 Group match & SF) Edited January 23 by Frustrated
