This might lead to a situation where India doesn’t play any KOs in India in both 2029 and 2031. This will ensure greater loss to ICC/BCCI than not playing any Ind-Pak game. No way Jay Shah accepts that. New guy 1
lemsip Posted February 9 Posted February 9 There is zero incentive for ICC to yield to any of these. Bangladesh are a non entity in cricketing terms and have nothing to back up their demands. Pakistan are under a delusion that because they are one half of India v Pakistan, they have leverage over the rest. The other boards have every reason to call their bluff.

Then what's the point of ICC meeting them and talking to them? They can just cut all of that and just enforce rules? Zero_Unit 1

Actually, there is incentive for ICC to roll over for some of the demands during negotiations. Had you said zero incentive for BCCI, then yes, that would be true. The reason I say this is because it's ICC who will loose out on big money if Pak decides not to play. And I can bet you that legally ICC can't do Jack **** to PCB cause Pakistan government told PCB not to play. I am not a lawyer but common sense tells me that even if they take this to court, it might just be that pCB followed their gov and followed gov instructions. Are they going to go after pk gov and sue them? I think not. I would be surprised if ICC doesn't compromise some stuffs for the sake of Money. New guy 1

Ind host two tournaments (29, 31). What does Pakistan have to offer in return to BCCI?
daryl1985 Posted February 9 Posted February 9 BCCI need to eat the financial loss and let them boycott. Generally speaking, not allowing Mustafizur to play IPL was daft, should have not allowed Bangladesh players form the outset or let him play. Think it has to be the case from now on that India play Pakistan at neutral venues in all ICC tournaments - not ideal but has to be done, same thing may have to happen with Bangladesh.

Yes, but ICC cannot do those demands without the approval of their member boards including BCCI. ICC is no all powerful entity which the boards all listen to. It is composed of multiple boards and things happen via vote. Will ICC make some concessions - yes, they can but only those which will be tolerated by the BCCI. Maybe a u-19 wc for Bangladesh down the line. No penalty for Bangladesh. Something like that. ICC can't arrange bilateral/tri series etc. Outside their purview. There is a thing called opportunity cost. If ICC has to take actions which will lose them more money than Pakistan playing, they will prefer Pakistan not play. For all the talks of Pakistan boycotting, there is one country ICC can't afford boycotting - that is India. And if push comes to shove, they will always choose India.

I don't think so. it is a myth that India vs Pakistan is the only thing that keeps the money rolling for the ICC and that those matches not happening will kill the commercial value generated by the ICC. That may have been the case in the past but ut is rapidly becoming clear that India-Pak proposition has reached its expiration date. For the cycles to come, the ICC can create more opportunities and contests to sell to the broadcasters to replace the India-Pak circus. Edited February 9 by lemsip rollingstoned and raki05 1 1

Lol Surya whether its right/wrong humiliated that Naqvi in front of world and Naqvi and few kaneda folks here took it to their ego. Let them live their misery on social media. rollingstoned 1
deathmonger Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Reality is ICC has far more leverage on Pak than vice-versa. If Pak tank ICC revenues by boycotting, ICC can go full nuclear and * them up and other boards will all vote for it. Pak can make a dent to ICC. ICC can destroy Pak cricket forever. Rather than accept Pak's demands, negotiation is more like what will happen if they don't play. They were boycotting UAE match too in AC. raki05 1
deathmonger Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Pakistan has two options 1. Maintain the status quo which involves no Indian bilaterals, no IPL and affiliated leagues involvement, Idnia getting multiple ICC trophies as India becomes stronger and stronger and strengthen their grip over world cricket (via expanded IPL etc) making them more of a pariah. 2. Try to disrupt it and accelerate the process as ICC goes full nuclear on them. Basically a slow death vs a fast one. raki05 1
