There is no point of bringing him in now, especially for abhishek. He just had fever thats it. most likely will recover in couple of days.

May be rest him in pak game too.

 

There are only 2 options where Vaibhav makes to the team now ::

1. In place of sundar
2. In place of rinku

 

Ind is wasting 2 spots in 15, a specialist off-spinner and a back-up wk. Aus has no back-up keeper. Should have tried Verma in role for an off-spinner.

Not sure who but there should have been some1 who could keep, even part time.

Should avoid travelling all the way to Sri Lanka for one match. Climate change can trigger a relapse.

Rest Abhi, real tournament starts from Super 8s. Do what Aussies did with Head in 23 WC.

Overdependence on 1/2 players must stop. You win tournaments based on your bench strength, not how strong your best XI can be. Aussies lost Shane Warne on the eve of 2003 WC, and Brett Lee before 07 WC....both those campaigns turned out to be dominant runs. We lost Viru before 2007 WT20 final, but his replacement Yusuf Pathan made a impact in 7-8 balls.

Stomach flu takes a bit of time to recover from. Even though you get over the fever quickly, it weakens you quite a bit and saps energy big time. It's gonna be a  challenge to be match-fit for Pak game. Wish we had Jaiswal in the squad instead of Sundar. Sundar is practically useless as he can't hit down the order and a waste of spot. Someone like Jaiswal, or even Parag, would've been so much better.

 

If Jaiswal is not going to be considered, then Suryavanshi would be the next best option. But we gotta get explosive openers in instead of going to likes of Gill or Samson.

Thing with stomach ailments is that you get dehydrated and lose electrolytes. Then can cramp up during game time. For normal folks, we can manage but top level athletes lose lot of body fluids while playing.

He was ill even during USA game. No idea why he travelled all the way to Delhi and also attended that dinner in GG's place. Should have just rested up in Mumbai.

They should've told both Abhishek and Bumrah to rest up and join the squad on 13th to prep for Pak match. They should've been resting all this while.

Pakistan aren’t winning this, regardless of who’s in their squad. Even if we field a B or C side, India have too much depth and better game sense to let it slip. And about that rookie mystery spinner, our batters have seen it all. His four overs will be managed like any other spell. We’ve got the quality and the clarity.
