And they can't handle parking. Brabourne hosted the 2013 women's WC final. Came under lot of fire that stadium. Can't believe @G_B_ thinks these Brabournes and DYPs are in the same tier as Wankhede.

Can't believe @G_B_ thinks these Brabournes and DYPs are in the same tier as Wankhede. Brabourne is a part of the CCI. That is, in my opinion, India's most prestigious club/gymkhana. Its a great place to enroll your kids for a swim/chess/badminton class and play padel with friends. As a plain cricket stadium it is some distance behind the Wankhede. Gollum 1
rangeelaraja Posted February 24 Posted February 24 I hate how the PCA Mohali stadium has been sidelined in all of this because of Ahmedabad stadium. PCA Mohali is an iconic stadium and one of Team India's 'luckiest' venues. vvvslaxman 1

Eventually, once Srini was toppled, they moved it out. It has been a troubled venue in recent times no matter how intelligent the fans are. The iconic stadium of Mumbai is Brabourne. Wankhede is a recent addition. Even the BKC stadium has better facilities than Wankhede. Keep in mind DY Patil has been used for women's cricket and remains the best stadium in the pan-Mumbai metro area. Wankhede is a shithole. I have been to both. Dharmashala is a recent addition to the cricketing network and has had issues with its outfield. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-12607801/ICC-forced-defend-hazardous-Dharamshala-outfield-England-gears-win-clash-against-Bangladesh.html I am confused. Are we saying that historic cricketing centres should be given priority or not? Where does Dharmashala come into it? All of them are still way better than this garbage stadium

There is a reason why legacy centres like Eden, Wankhede, Chepauk, Chinnaswamy hosted big matches because the crowd intimidates the opposition. This is not to say the crowd wins matches. End of the day it's the team that matters more than anything. But the crowd is crucial and must help the team. Not many pay attention to crowds usually unless it is really bad. That is where Ahmedabad gained its notoriety. Dharamsala test had fantastic vibe too.

Gollum Posted February 24 Posted February 24 (edited) It seems Indian origin folks overseas are more invested in Namo stadium than people actually living in India Edited February 24 by Gollum

Thats cause they were not in power when he died... When they came to power they named it. Note he was not a cricket admin.
