SecondSlip Posted April 20 Posted April 20 GT have hit the fewest sixes and are the fourth-slowest team with the bat. We are at a crossroads in the IPL where traditional powerhouses of the IPL are being left behind by teams that have blooded in young Indian batters who have taken T20 hitting to the next level. In the last four years, they have not added any of the aforementioned young hitters to their squad but only strengthened their bowling. tweaker, Manucrick, Ultimate_Game and 1 other 1 3

It's just that his shots don't have enough power to clear the boundaries but don't you see the intent? Gill with aggressive ground shots and Sai with his composure are some other left field moves along with "power hitter" Tewatia down the order who hasn't hit anything for the last few years.

vvvslaxman Posted April 21 Posted April 21 I just learnt SHarukh Khan has earned 35 crores through IPL lol
Talkie Posted April 21 Posted April 21 This is probably the only time none of their top 3 got to fifty and the entire team fell like a pack of cards. Tewatia and Sharukh have one job and they can't do it. Worst team, worst lineup. Nehra Jai rated for no reason. 2022 was lucky.
Bigg Brother Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Tiwetiya and Shahrukh are the luckiest to make such easy money after Unadkat from IPL. No skill, no method to their batting, no innings building skill when needed. Pure hacks. Sai saved them last year otherwise this is pure boring batting unit.
tapandrun Posted April 21 Posted April 21 Thats why there is a huge diff between ability to hit 4/6 in odis and t20is. Sharuk/samad can hit 4/6s in odis(50-over) but not t20i. Thats why ppl equating an odi innings to t20 innings is wrong or thinking some1 looking like a hitter in odis will do good in t20s as well is wrong. Similarly seeing some1 perform in t20s does not mean they will do well in odis. these are 2 diff formats. T20 is about high risk high reward and Odi is partnerships and high tempo. A 20 ball 40 runs innings is v.v. good knock in t20s but not in Odis.

tapandrun Posted April 22 Posted April 22 The issue gt is facing is not only their issue, same issue with dc, mi, kkr, lsg. Any team who do not have their version of Abhishek/Vaibhav are looking like 2nd string sides. Any team not investing the next level domestic t20 batters are looking ancient.

zen Posted April 22 Posted April 22 So far SRK has been one of the biggest scams of IPL. Needs to pull up his socks or this will likely be his last season at GT. Tewatia has many memorable knocks but now he has regressed. Needs to op his game or he could be dropped too.

Kushagra <-- has good technique , but not that good for t20s , may be will take couple of seasons to develop some power and t20 game, but he is good Odi prospect. Parakh<--Posted about him, dc should try him as an opener, he is solid timmer of the ball, hit 6s in covers from the crease Dhaiya<-- Posted about him too, he can play both at the opening slot or in lower middle order Mukul <-- Is playing at right spot may be he can go 1 spot up Kulkarni <-- He is an opener, last season in IPL did look ready. now has played smat and their domestic t20 league added some off-side game too may be he can open in place of badhoni

The quality of hitting, the depth in batting line-ups, and indeed the nature of pitches have changed so much that costly errors are happening at a much lower rate than what captain Gill and coach Ashish Nehra want. They will soon realise that they are not getting enough out of this concept of playing low-risk cricket and waiting for the other side to make high-cost errors when playing high-risk shots. That's when they will have to build a better XI, which allows the players to maximise their scoring rate without worrying about getting out as much as they have to do now.

putrevus Posted May 31 Posted May 31 (edited) How did they get exposed??? Such a moronic take, they fought tooth and nail defending a small total. They got beaten by better team on the day. Edited May 31 by putrevus
