They seem to see a path way between A team and test cricket which is great Easwaran and Sai are a good example of this. The former has a good FC record, makes the A team but struggles. The latter has an average FC record but makes the A team based on "eye test" shall we say and does well, so makes the test team Riyan struggling in IPL until lately but is VC of the A team because he did well for the A team last time round Vs Aus A (also credit to selectors for not confusing formats) But, in general, no one is a selector here even for his/her mohalla. Here we are talking about LOIs! Hardly anyone is going to follow India A LOI tours. Selectors care more about IPL performances than on such token LOI A tours. With IPL, the two month of constant cricket, there is not much interest left to pursue non major non full strength LOI tournaments and bilaterals. There maybe only be inconsequential limited following. PS the thread is not for test cricket. Edited May 17 by zen
tapandrun Posted May 17 Posted May 17 Madav is just another trundler, think he is a batter who can bowl seam-up. Has good bat speed. But good start from this season, think this is 3rd season with impact-sub we already saw faster domestic bowlers and batters like Arya/vaibhav/Abhishek getting chances now teams are looking further to find the point of diff domestic players, its a good start wont find many 140 kmph bowlers who can bat like top order batters. But a good start -- Reddy/Shegde/Tiwari <-- teams are trying to find players who can bowl seam and are are good hitters. Also few team are trying to find domestic batters who can take up the role of the finishers-- Mukul/Salil/Aniket etc... Wont find high potential players right away but the steps are in right directions and atleast now teams are understanding how to find some talent and are willing to give them chances. express bowling 1

How is Madhav as a hitter ? How is Shegde's bowling ? RK Ghosh had potential but sadly got injured. Edited May 17 by express bowling Suhaan and Mosher 2

If it is not about test cricket then it can't be about 50 overs either right so we should not even bring A team ki baat in IPL forum If you mean following just here in the forum.. I think on this forum people do care about A team performances, I certainly do more so than I do about IPL (I know I am an exception in this regard) Any following we do of anything is inconsequential na :-) Look at the A team squad for SL, I know it's constrained by Afghanistan series also happening at same time but, the a fair few picks clearly show a leaning towards past A team and list A performances, and even other domestic performers with players being chosen despite ordinary or at least not spectacular IPL so far: Thakur, Parag, Badoni , Nishant, Shedge... express bowling 1

Both are 125-130 kmph bowlers and batting is not that extra-oridnary , right now both are bits and pieces players. Ppl have to understand the evolution of Ind/domestic players years on year in the ipl. firstly only intnl capped Ind player were able to play some sort of t20 cricket with yousuf being the exception. Then came players who Ipl team thought they can play t20 but were not good enough, then came players who would try to score some runs fr themsleves 1st 20ish slow runs then try to hit --kl/etc... Then came player who understood what t20 is and what ipl needs , 10-12 ball quick 20-30 <-- Sky/Rahul tripathi /Dube etc.. Then came player like Abhishek/Patidar/Arya/Vaibhav etc... It takes time. Still think Yousuf was a prototype t20 player, they just didnt invest in him, they found he was not good vs short ball they dropped him --- rather than developing and helping him ... Raina was not good vs bouncers as well...Infact pollard when he was new he was not that good vs bouncers. Suhaan, Need4Speed and express bowling 3

What is happening here is we are using a high value T20 marquee event to create India A LOI, one of the lowest and likely inconsequential tiers. Now international performances influence selection in IPL teams. While domestic tourneys are used for scouting new talent. Consistent performers over multiple seasons in IPL can get picked for national teams. Edited May 17 by zen
zen Posted May 18 Posted May 18 (edited) 5 hours ago, tapandrun said: Madav is just another trundler Yes, at the moment, Madhav appears ordinary. Reminds me of a Nalkande that GT used to have. Madhav is even slower than the RCB bowler Salam. We are quick to run down a relatively known bowler (at least for some relatively unique skills shown over a few seasons) bowling on an absolute flat track where one over can easily go for 20+ runs to damage the figures, while praising a virtual nobody who bowls on a pitch that offers grip to his kind of bowling. We have so many random threads here - Kartik Tyagi is shyte, Anshul Kamboj is shyte, and then the likes of Madav Yadav (Tiwari) and Bawa become the next big talent, etc. Uncapped players with a handful of recent good performances become better than those with relatively more good performance over a few seasons when they fail in a season or even in a few games. As a result of such random discussions, playing 11s posted or a new player thread is now being potentially seen as a joke or a comic relief thread. PS It is understandable if a Sooryavanshi is being hyped based on consistent impactful performance against quality opening bowlers over two seasons. Edited May 18 by zen tapandrun 1
Ultimate_Game Posted May 18 Author Posted May 18 Madhav Tiwari will shut all of you down. The guy is the right-handed version of Dube and in the next auction I expect someone to pick him upwards of 6-8 cr. He's the perfect T20 player - a pace bowling all-rounder who can bowl his 4 overs and also a hard hitter down the order. A rare breed in Indian cricket.

So let him first play like 10 games in a season, scoring around 150-200 runs at a SR of 150+ (Dubesque SR) and pick up like 10 wickets bowling 30-40 overs. Then it would be good to talk about him.

IPL is known for 1-2 games or even one season wonders. He is not even close to being a wonder at this point in time. PS a few days back, Mukul Chaudary, if I recall the name correctly) won a game for LSG out of nowhere against KKR. Not many even recall him now and he has not been given consistent run by LSG based on such performance. Talking about LSG, Badoni performed for it in a season to be seen as a reliable player but is not even played regularly now. So such threads, without solid consistent long term performances, can be seen jokes! Edited May 18 by zen

After all "johri ko hi heere ki parakh hoti hai". What's the point in biggying up a player who's already made it? I look for potential future stars and so far Madhav and Shedge check the boxes.

It was likes of Abhishek, Jaiswal, Parag a few years ago followed by Sooryavanshi and Mhatre last year. This year it's Madhav and Shedge who've impressed me the most along with Prince and Sakib. If not for these youngsters why even bother following IPL else you can see the established players/stars in intls

IPL gives more earning potential and exposure to players than any India A or even non major India series. Guys like Mukesh have a very less chance of ever playing for India even if they make it to non consequential India A. From a cricketer's perspective, targeting the IPL makes the most sense opportunity wise and financially. There are only 11 spots in the Indian team while the IPL has multiple times that. A cricketer's time span is limited and there is no better platform than the IPL for maximizing its value. Even an average player like SRK has earned a handsome salary over the past 4-5 years and is financially set for life. Venkatesh Iyer hasn't had a memorable last couple of seasons but he could retire right now and live happily with what he has earned over the same timeframe. Do well in the IPL, and treat a place in the ICT as a nice to have rather than a necessity. zen 1

International cricket is probably now more about marquee events which IPL already is. nevada 1
