You are not wrong but I still miss him, has the same calm presence as Rahane in tests and some captains have luck like Dhoni and he also had it.

yup.. but given that next world cup is in 2028 it was the right call. But  Iyer being the captain is the issue here.  Any bilateral wins mean nothing

India has won 12 T20I series in a row  18 out of 19 or so.

India world no.1 ranked T20I side for the last 4 years straight

India has won 2 world cups

They have own 85% of T20Is since 2024 world cup

There is nothing left to achieve. Good time to experiment. But captaincy is something they should have deliberated on. I was okay with his captaincy half way through IPL. After his 6 straight losses i  had second thoughts as he repeatedly made same mistakes.

Was he a performer? No

Did he warrant a place as specialist batsman in our side? No

Is he still in his prime? No

Is he washed and too old for 2028 campaigns? Resounding yes.

I can name 5 players in the team starting with shreyas iyer who fit these criterias.

Kohli is not my relative for me to be mad at Gambhir lol. I just don't think Gambhir is a good coach.

Won champions trophy and t20 WC. Leveled series in England not bad to be honest. NZ series was left over from dravid coaching and ageing ashwin and jadeja

I think you are close to him or from same locality/background (may be wrong but remember some post of yours suggesting that).

Life goes on. Everybody has to bow out at some point. Making peace with Federer's retirement was the toughest thing for me, but now I enjoy Alcaraz's game. Vishy bowed out after 3 decades at top, but we have so many prodigies to root for now.  Some new guy will come through.

Rahi baat luck ki, it changes. Dhoni was indeed lucky from 2007 to 2013, but not so much in his remaining years as captain. Labu was the luckiest batsman I remember watching, look how it has deserted him now, these things even out in the long run.

Nothing of what you said was easy to achieve and it was no fluke.

But we risk it all by bad selection choices in both players and captaincy. It all can go downhill just like that.

And what the hell did shreyas ever do to get in the team in the first place as  a player. he's given a spot and the captaincy right away.

another slowman gill t20 disaster in the waiting.

The problem in Iyer's move is the coach and selector are getting too much say in the team.

The vice captain in the team is next in line to become captain.Or if he is deemed not fit to be captain making any player in the team captain is common age old practice.

Mostly he will lose his spot soon. Things will course correct.

Iyer or kishan could have been picked as captain. SKY has lost his reflexes so bad. He looked like tailender in the IPL.

They won those overcoming this bozo not because of this bozo.

He is the reason for NZ series loss making everyone in the dressing room uncomfortable. It proved again in Australia. England where India would have won the series in canter if anyone else was the coach.NZ is proving that this year.

This guy is a horrible coach  and a bloody hypocrite.

People here have a problem with 37-38 yo Kohli in 2027 WC. Same Kohli who is still performing like a beast, and who has the best record in RSA across formats.

But want 37-38 yo SKY for 2028 WC which will be played on spicy Aus decks. Same SKY who can't buy 10 runs against half-decent opponents these days, whose hand-eye has completely deserted him !!!!

Are you even listening to yourself?

Chalo, if you want SKY as mentor or in coaching team for tactics and vibes, understandable. But as a player?
