Has cricket impacted India’s mindset in other team sports?

Yesterday, I was shocked to see Cabo Verde make defending champions Argentina toil in the R32 game. Cabo  Verde is a tiny nation with around 500,000 inhabitants. 

 

I could not imagine India compete in such a game. And that made me think - why India fails to shine in general in team sports? Is cricket the reason where: 

 

* Not many teams compete 

* Pitches can be leveraged upon - in other team sports in general, the conditions are standard so one does seek to gain pitch advantage 

* A slight unfavourable event like a loss of toss can trigger panic

 

Is the application of cricketing mindset impacting India in other team sports? Discuss!

Australia messed up a penalty vs Egypt. In cricket Australia usually grabs such clutch moments. How come they were not able to transfer their cricket mindset to soccer

The point was, they grab clutch moments, in cricket like a players steps up when they see an opportunity and win from difficult moments. That’s their mindset in cricket. Their soccer team doesn’t seem to have that as they crumbled under pressure.

But Australia does compete in team sports in general wherever it is Rugby, Cricket, Hockey, and even soccer where it tends to make it to world cups. 
 

India hardly makes it to any major team sports events (not even talking about winning a major tournament but being present) apart from cricket, which has likely created a pussy culture where pitches, tosses, etc., need to be leveraged upon to win. In other sports, you don’t get such advantages so you compete primarily on skills.

Field Hockey we are alright. Volleyball also we seem to be improving. Football we can never catch up, left far behind.

Argentina once beat India 1-0 in a game played in India in 1984,maybe Kolkata was the venue

you have to be reasonably good to grab those clutch moments. Australia is not that good.
