Pau Cubarsi wins the best young player. By far the best defender in word football at present. Spain has scary good future with Yamal, Cubarsi, Nico Williams at their peak in coming years . Expecting 2008-12 level of dominance in multinational tournaments.

Oh they also have Pedri, Gavi, Marc Bernal etc

I think what they need is a high quality number 9 as Oyarzabal is getting there in age and Ferran is okay off the bench. Even more unstoppable then

Do you guys agree with player of the tournament. 0 assists 0 goals. I know he did a fab job in the midfield. But .. did he deerve it over Mbappe or Messi who did more important plays? I know Messi hasn't scored much against top teams.  But without him they wouldn't  have made it to the finals.

Abdool's and Begum's supporting spain. They simply do not know that Spaniards were  the most rabid anti-islamists till the early modern ages.

Tough luck argentina!!!

The ultra boring and geriatric spaniards made the match a snoozefest. :dontknow:

On contrary, England and France 3rd position match was a  full paisa vasool.

On the Argentina boards - people are blaming Scaloni for his ultra defensive tactics. It is true that Lisandro M and Romero (both starting CBs)  got injured but the tactics of Scaloni caused them to be overworked at the back.

They are saying that Medina and Otamendi allowed the Spanish goal which Romero and Lisandro would not have allowed.....

I don't know why these ultra defensive tactics by these coaches/managers are not more scrutinized..... something very fishy about them.

Even the tactic of the Uruguayan coach to select a 40 year old Muslera who even in his prime had howlers of errors and this WC was disgraceful....

Or the Argentina/Holland match in 2022 where Holland erased a 2-0 lead in the last 15 minutes going aerial and dominating with headers. Come Extra-time and Holland completely abandoned the header - very fishy.

Spaniards have their unique style and mastered it, they need not have the Northern European speed or the Latino flair. They are extremely good at what they do which is why they have gold standard clubs in Real Madrid and Barca.

As much as I rooted against Argentina in this game, some of the comments from Spanish fans were below the belt after the game and were not ok with me. Like how Argentines are inferior because they lack the European discipline and order.

Objectively speaking, I would rather watch Latinos play football than Europeans for entertainment value and flair. Also, Argentines are proud South Americans and should not feel inferior to Europeans.

Why worry about these tactics? First you worry about beating Nepal and Maldives

ah yes - and Bhutan and Bangles too. Glad you have come around too.

This is just as a diversion.

The Indian mediocrity is eternal.

Eng v France match was actually very low on quality and no one was even genuinely trying.  It was meaningless Sunday league fun.  They were least interested in that meaningless game especially French

Spain arguably has a insanely talented younger squad. Their average age is roughly 25 I think.

Argentina far less talented on paper

Kanglus are all over Argentina lol... They are rabid supporters of Messi and Enzo Martinez.  It's very cringe tbh:phehe:

In all honesty Argentina has been most hated team this WC for some reason across the board.

Ronaldo fans played its part as well.

Argentina was found wanting not because of tactics. It is because they are not that good apart from Messi.  They solely rely on him. Spain may not be as dangerous as France when it comes to scoring goals with precision. But they crease way more opportunities than them.  If they even had Haaland as their CF they would have scored way more goals than just 1. Also Spain really wore them out in 30 minutes. Everyone was gasping for breath. They made a staggering 825 passes and Argentina for 90 minutes were left chasing the ball. Spain is a very young team too. THey had enough energy in the tank. When you combine with their spatial awareness, precise ability to block all the channels around Messi they looked distinctly superior.  Argentina had a relatively easy route. Would have been interesting if France had gotten to face Argentina

Real breaking point was when var decided to roll the tape 20 seconds back to disallow a goal for Egypt. Many were rooting for an underdog. Then there were many dubious calls at the worst time possible for opponents of Argentina. When the world cup started nobody even talked about rooting against Argentina. By the end they became the most hated football team in the world. After Brazi, argentina was the most supported team for a long time thanks to Maradona. Watching the way they play they have ruined their own legacy.

Messin hanging out too much Suarez may have played arole lol   Everyone has become an animal minus biting :)
