They've drawn enough, lost in penalties etc. And didn't even qualify in 2018 - of course, they didn't lose. So, while technically true, it's just another useless, over-hyped statistic. Ultimate_Game Posted June 21 Posted June 21 Belgium once again highlighting how useless the FIFA world rankings are. Apparently Belgium was ranked in the top 10 when the WC started. Drew their first match and don't look like winning against Iran either. Belgium are Pakistan of football with their great "bi-lateral" record and then nada.

Majority of the season is dominated by club football but there're intl friendlies spread across every few months or the WC (or Euro Cup) qualifying matches. That's how you get the intl rankings. Most teams don't take friendlies seriously but looks like Belgium does coz their intl rankings don't reflect their performances in tourneys.

Yes they were very close to winning the 2018 WC, only France stood in the way. Would have been amazing had they won that, they won the hockey WC earlier that year in Kalinga. Remember Nasser Hussain taunting jokingly Dravid during 2014 test series about India not qualifying for Fifa during test series commentary was on. 2014 WC going on at that time, Few days later- England vs Uruguay was official knockout, still recall that match, they were 1-1 and Suarez scored in 85th minute and they were knocked out next day(As Costa Rica defeated the other team in that group).
