Bengal and Delhi Capitals wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel was arrested by Bengal Police on Tuesday in connection with a rape case filed by a medical student, according to an official quoted by PTI.

 

Porel was taken into custody in Hooghly and formally arrested after being questioned, with the 23-year-old subsequently sent for a medical examination and produced before the Chinsurah Court.

Exactly. This whole thing about "promise of marriage" is nonsense.

Only two things should matter - whether she was a major (18+ year old), and if it was consensual.

Why are they calling this as a rape, it is insulting to acutal rape victims who need help and justice.This is just a case of gold digger trying to make sure she gets her money.

As long as this stone age clause is allowed, real rape victims will also never be believed, its bad for society as a whole

 

Breach of promise cases used to happen in victorian England and lasted till 1970 before being abolished. Even then it was never treated as rape.

 

We are still stuck in middle ages as a nation
