Around 300 Indians I heard

I just came to know about a close acquaintance who are missing. The tour operator says that they were at the immigration when it happened. The building is right next to the river. Just hoping that there is some communication issue. This is devastating for the family, they have a son living here. Two brothers and their wives missing. This is so hard.

I think this is on China.

Why? What have you heard? At least the last year incident was a dam release that they didn’t announce , the water broke the bridge. This time they say it’s a big glacier that fell  on the ground and even caused 5.4 earthquake. You’ll never know they might be trying some test on the mountains. As the popular BhojPuri song goes,  Cheen madarchodba

Nepal with a 3 crore population and a small GDP of $45 billion wouldn't be able to sustain these losses.

A landlocked country with frequent disasters like earthquakes and landslides should ideally merge with either India or China, preferably India. But the Nepali politicians will never let this happen.

Tough,

Nepalis are in general of 2 regions..Tarai is the Nepal which is in border with UP & Bihar..thats the region where you'll see people with similar facial features and language as of India (often called as Madhesis). These folks are usually India favoured. More than half of the population is from this region.

Then comes the hills or Himalayan Nepal, which is Kathmandu and above, they are basically similar to Ladakhis or Bhutani in terms of their facial features...and these are the ones who wants to stay separated from India and closer to China.

Tarai belt is the one which feeds Nepal, but they are under represented and majority of power lies with Himalayan Nepal.

Similar to J&K...Jammu has more population, but control is in Kashmir.

Makes sense to have a buffer state between India and China.   Nepal always was kinda a sovereign state.

They did defeat Turks and kept Mughals at bay.

Keeping those Shakti Traditions alive and old school Hinduism is alive thanks to them.

Balen Shah happens to be a Madhesi though, born in Kathmandu, and 1st Madhesi PM.

They built lot of infrastructure in this region. They cut lot of mountains. These mountains would have stopped the burst of the glacier. They are doing things against nature

It's arrogance. Even if something happens from their end , it's only the downstream countries which get affected

They said the burst on Nepal side not even accepting it is their doing. They even delayed information and didn’t send in time to Nepal that a burst happened. Lot of lives could have been saved if they had sent information
