Your playing XI for the match vs. Pak

Raina is going to be a good bowling option here. We shouldn't worry too much about spinners bowling in the bowling power play. Harbhajan can do a more than decent job in 3 out of those 5 overs. Nayar will get hammered if bowled in power play - he is no more than a part time option.

Has Ishant's recent performance really been better than Nehra? I'm seeing Ishant in every list while Nehra is being subbed in half of them.
Ishant is more reliable than Nehra. Nehra bowls good in one match and is then pathetic for the next couple of matches

When was the last time Ishant put in a solid performance?

And on bouncy wickets Ishant could be far more dangerous than Nehra.

@ post #2..With part time spinners in Pathan' date='Raina and Sachin will they play an additional spinner? At least for the first match don't think so.[/quote'] Pakistan's tactic is go after India's part timers. They have done it successfully in a couple of matches. Especially Younis Khan. Part timers are not guaranteed to succeed. But leg spinners, left arm spinners are always a problem for Pakistan players. It is a good change up. This length bowling is what worrying me more.

we needed rohit sharma in this situation as a back up.. the guy is a good fielder, handy with bowl ... He is bit inconsistent with bat.. but he is a big tournament guy..

It essentially boils down to Nayar/Yusuf and RP/Praveen. Lean more towards RP over Praveen Kumar - Form doesn't favor RP, but history does. Yusuf has done f-all in ODIs, and his bowling is a non-factor, Nayar has shown a bit with the bat in SA. Tendy Gambhir Dhoni Dravid Raina Kohli Nayar Harbhajan RP Ishant Nehra

Most would disagree with me but given the lineup we have Sachin should come at 4. If we lose him and another batsman in first 10 overs, our middle order doesnt have anything to offer. We should have taken Irfan, he could have opened, bowl first change and we could have played 2 spinners.

You are forgetting Dravid.

I would have Dravid open or at least 1 down so we stall their pacers from ripping through our top order. A start..might be a slow one, but a start, and not a crumble like West Indies yesterday.
