Guys, you'd do well to ignore idiots. Vijay was excellent yesterday. His technique was awesome, and as vvvslaxman mentioned - particularly his technique in evading the short ball was excellent. But more than the composure at the wicket, what impressed me was that he was completely aware of the situation around him. He kept himself busy, didn't get bogged down, and at the same time, was the perfect partner to Sehwag. The six to reach 50 was great to watch as well. :two_thumbs_up:

Vijay is class and nearly fufilled my prediction he will get a ton. The guy is run machine in Ranji, is perfect age and is technically good and mentally strong. Good mixture of solid defense and aggression. Also good athlete and runner between wickets. In aussie debut looked totally at ease and in control. Today was same story. He is without doubt first cab of the rank in line. He is going to be the best reserve batsman in world cricket and frankly would walk in to any other international side. He is class another gem. India are brilliant

what i like about him is exquisite timing and the way he leans into his drives.he has some footwork problems which might be problematic abroad but he defintely improved as the innings went along.

He has an excellent temperament, excellent technique, stylish stroke play all the attributes to make it big in international cricket. I think we have a replacement for RD in the making!

Well I wish every single Indian player excels and Yuvi is no different. I may not be convinced by him but I sure as well will hope he does the best he can and proves me wrong.

guys....Vijay dint get a chance to play hostile short pitched stuff till date in his career. His hooking, pulling , defending skills need further test. Also he will not get a chance for the next two years until someone retires or UV enters a real bad patch. By that time he may be gone and new players may arrive in the domestic circuit. I think he played well yesterday. Its a pity that BCCI killing test cricket. So no more test matches for us.

Just imagine this: a batsman walks into the team and produces a gem of an innings and we know that he will be dropped immediately for the next match. Does not matter how well he plays, he has to make space for the most successful batsman of last year. And there is no one else he can replace in the entire lineup- irrespective of how good he is. What a luxury is that for the selectors!! I remember when Sehwag was dropped for the Australia tour, a NZ selector had commented "Ah! The luxury of dropping someone with a 50+ average and a triple century!"

I had written in November 2008 when England were touring India that I would like to see him playing in the first Test itself batting at number three. Then again when Sehwag almost scored an unbelievable third triple century four months ago getting 293 against Sri Lanka at Brabourne, I had written in my feature. . . ". . . the most compelling part of India's two hundred run opening partnership, for me at least, was the batting of young Murali Vijay. Sadly an ugly sweep brought an end an innings of rare beauty. I don't sit up and watch the full innings of any IPL game unless Mumbai Indians are batting but Vijay is something special. I do not see how and why he can or should be kept out of an Indian side for the shorter format for long. He will play explosive innings without the hit or miss quality of some of those who seem to have caught the fans fancy enough to be called Gods already. Yes, his time is now.
