yoda Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Oh man this is some poor selection. Seems like Cheeka is being arm twisted, can't imagine him being so dumb. No Uthappa, no Pandey, no M. Karthik, no Rayudu, no S. Tiwary, how the feck did Chawla come back and why is fatso Rohit still around? Hope we get past Afghanistan.
The Outsider Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Rohit Sharma Chawla :hysterical: Even Paki selectors applied more brains while selecting their T20 squad!
zen Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Squad: MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina, Yusuf Pathan, Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja, Zaheer Khan, Praveen Kumar, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Vinay Kumar, Rohit Sharma. Looking at the squad, I hope Ind plays on pitches that are like what they are in the sub-continent, in that way bouncer is not that big a threat to our bats and spinners come in to play more Otherwise we have the following who can be bounced out: Yuvi, Raina, Yusuf, Rohit and Jadeja :nervous: Talking these^ guys as slot fillers, who could contribute occasionally, Ind would have to rely mainly on Viru, GG and Dhoni, along with Karthik (if he makes it to the playing 11). As for bowling, Zak, PK, Bhajji and Jadeja will have to shoulder the burden, along with Nehra/Vinay providing support. I haven't seen Chawla bowl much lately, except for a few overs in IPL, so it's difficult to comment on his selection Ideal Playing 11 (for the first two games): - Viru - GG - Karthik - Yuvi - Dhoni - Raina ( or YP) - Jadeja (or YP) - Bhajji (or YP) - Vinay (or Nehra) - Zak - PK
Sid Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Rohit sharma is a good player and can play the short pitch delivieries. :hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical::hysterical:
putrevus Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Mistakes happen my friend. :cantstop: Irfan's bowling has nothing to ride home about so his omission is justified, on WI pitches going by current trend spinners are playing more role than fast bowlers. So yousuf makes more sense in playing eleven.
coffee_rules Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 In which side of Kris Srikanth's bed is Nohit waking up from?
Lord Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 my playing XI VS GG YP UV Raina MSD Jadeja Bhajji PK VK Zak
zen Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 my playing XI VS GG YP UV Raina MSD Jadeja Bhajji PK VK Zak 3 guys who can be bounced out batting from 3 to 5. If the pitch has something in it for the quicks, it could be a mouth-watering proposition for the opposition bowlers! If not and if they fire than Ind would be heading for a big total
Lord Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 3 guys who can be bounced out batting from 3 to 5. If not and if they fire than Ind would be heading for a big total[/quote'] that is not a fixed batting order.it is the order assuming everything goes well n the pitch is flat.if we lose 2 early wickets then MSD can come in for consolidation

putrevus Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 why not both? if both of them play Praveen kumar has to sit, going on current form he is far better bowler to start the innings than Irfan,
zen Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 that is not a fixed batting order.it is the order assuming everything goes well n the pitch is flat.if we lose 2 early wickets then MSD can come in for consolidation Why not have DK (Karthik) at 3? He is good against both pace (opened in tests) and spin. Having Viru, GG and Karthik in top 3 makes a good top order w/o too many weaknesses.
vvvslaxman Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 DK may come as a finisher. In all probability DK might play coz last time Rohit failed in West Indies but DK played reasonably better as an opener.
putrevus Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Why not have DK (Karthik) at 3? He is good against both pace (opened in tests) and spin. Having Viru' date=' GG and Karthik in top 3 makes a good top order w/o too many weaknesses.[/quote'] Yes in last world cup it was our batting and nonsensical batting order by dhoni which caused our India early exit.Raina should not bat at no 3 he is just not equipped to bat at no3.
Lord Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 if both of them play Praveen kumar has to sit' date=' going on current form he is far better bowler to start the innings than Irfan,[/quote'] no he doesnt Zak,Irfan n Praveen can form our bowling attack
putrevus Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 no he doesnt Zak' date='Irfan n Praveen can form our bowling attack[/quote'] who will bowl at last overs irfan with Zaheer?

Having Viru' date=' GG and Karthik in top 3 makes a good top order w/o too many weaknesses.[/quote'] DK wont make my first XI,so no point of playing him at 3.If we get a good start,i want Yusuf to get good amount of overs to get his eye in n blast.if we lose a wicket early MS can come in
Lord Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 who will bowl at last overs irfan with Zaheer? that would be gamble.I would keep Zak specially for death overs n bowl Yusuf,Jadeja with him.they r pretty good with thier darts
mastana Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 if both of them play Praveen kumar has to sit' date= going on current form he is far better bowler to start the innings than Irfan, Sehwag Gambhir Raina Yuvi Dhoni Yusuf Jadeja Irfan Bhajji Praveen Zak
