goose Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Bookmakers are offering 8/1 odds on India to win at Durban. Bookmakers rarely get it wrong but they can be slow to reflect new information and/or disregard old information. I think backing India to win at those odds is a good punt. 1) It's a two-horse race with 4 days still to go. India are one excellent session away from drawing level. 2) Dhoni and Harbhajan are at the crease. One almost scored a century at Centurion and the other is in the form of his life. 3) Zaheer is back. Apart from the obvious improvement in personnel this makes Ishant and Sreesanth more effective. 4) Zaheer can hold a bat. Unadkat cannot. 5) Steyn seems to have picked up a niggle in his groin. He came back onto the field towards the end of play but that's just the sensible thing to do in case he recovers overnight - RSA will want to be firing on all cylinders before India can settle. 6) Harbhajan should enjoy bowling on this surface. Harris got a few to turn and bounce. 7) RSA will have to bat last on Days 4/5. 8) Pujara does appear better equipped than Raina to face the RSA attack. That was not a given before today. 9) RSA have lost their two previous tests at this ground. 10) India are ranked the best team in the world.
Deleted_User_1 Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 India will score 200 all out in the first innings! Dhoni will perform voodoo on Graeme Smith making SA forfeit both their innings. INDIA WINS!!!
cowboysfan Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 i cannot dismiss the OP with his track record, its possible but highly unlikely.
Laaloo Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 You're absolutely right. If the conditions remain overcast, then I can't see SAF making more than 150-200 to be honest.
Manny_Pacquiao Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 nice to see a good thread around here for once, the forum is littered with trashy posts from too many worthless low-life posters betfair has odds of 21/2 on an indian win last time i checked. no way is that a fair representation of india's chance of winning the test match. i would consider sticking some bucks on it but the leap of faith is required on two counts: 1. weather. unpredictable at durban, u never know which team will have the better batting/bowling conditions on a given day. 2. indian bowling. u have to assume a much better performance which results in restricting SA to a manageable lead. to add to your points on south africa's record, some of their top bats also have lousy records on this pitch. although i have never been a fan of such statistics. u would be stupid not to have a flutter on those odds. i'm sure the bookies will cut that down by more than half if india were to have a semi-good day tomorrow
Serani Posted December 26, 2010 Posted December 26, 2010 Might bet on India, win win situation for me, if the win i get £ and if they lose I lol.

vamos_rafa Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 I remember Robin Jackman saying 2 things yesterday-> 1) He expected India to be bundled out for less than 100 on this track. 2) Any side would do well to get close to 200 on this pitch. Now the problem remains that whether the conditions would remain the same or not.
Desi Cartman Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 if we are able to get to 250+ then its advantage india IMO. The odds mentioned in OP are crazy considering that its already turning and this pitch suits swing bowling. Rest I will make dua
Asoka Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Just pray to God that it remains overcast today and King Khan will give an exhibition of swing and seam bowling.Even Sree and Ishant will bowl much better under the guidance of KK.But Bhajji needs to raise his game a notch.

satishg Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 May the oracle's word come true again! The signs are already there!
Serani Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 Now is time to be on SA, odds must have made a complete turn around.
sandeep Posted December 27, 2010 Posted December 27, 2010 MC Goosy Pee, you are something else gotta give you that.
goose Posted December 27, 2010 Author Posted December 27, 2010 Congratulations to all that backed India! Bookies have India slight favorites. I'd still run with them.
