saneindian Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Last 12 months, these three have had a bit of a struggle Yuvi in last 12 months 336 runs@30 with 2 50s Dhoni 486 runs@34 with 3 50s Raina 521 runs@29 with 2 50s The strangest thing has been each of them has got a number of starts scored 15-20 and then thrown it away. For us to do well in the WC, we need this trioka in good touch. On Raina, as of now with his iffy form, I have a feeling Raina is in danger of losing out his spot in the WC unless he can turn it around betwene now and the WC. Has been getting out to uncharecteristic shots in far too many matches.

Yuvi did score a match winning 50 in the game before last.

Coming in at no.6, his job isnt to average 40 at a SR of 80 and neither can will he ever manage to do that. In fact, lets not beat around the bush. Its Yuvraj, as simple and plain as that. Yuvraj is the single factor that makes our good middle order great. When he fires, with his dominating and ruthless style of batting, it not only completely demoralizes the opposition, but lifts the Indian dressing room as well. His game hasn’t looked anywhere close where it was, prior to him being dropped from the test side.

Yuvraj has so much upside potential and experience as a batsmen compared to these two that he should not be dropped. Moreover, his bowling is clearly the best of the lot and provides the left arm variety to the attack. As for dropping Kohli, well really can't see it happening. The next one day match and the warm up games will be a straight shoot out between Raina and Yusuf.

zen Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Dhoni plays as WK all-rounder so his performance are still somewhat acceptable, but you can't play Yuvi, Raina and YP in top 7 in the kind of form (on and off) they are in In my book, the top 4 for the WC should be: Ten, Viru, GG and Kohli .... Dhoni comes in as the WK all-rounder .... Pick two from UV, Raina and YP (unless ofc all three are in their best form), and if we are playing say 5 bowlers than one

IMO, it will be between Raina, Yusuf, Gambhir and Yuvi - 3 of the 4 depending on their form during WC in the playing 11. Even Gambhir is not exempt from that. Kohli must be in the 11

Hopefully, these three or at least 2 of them will be back to their best by the time the WC begins or towards the business end of the tournament.

Silva Posted January 21, 2011 Posted January 21, 2011 Part of their struggles is because of the lack of matches Gambhir sehwag and Tendulkar have played. Once they come in and play toghether at the top along with Kohli it would make their jobs much easier.
