Others are a joke in front of these two genius composers.. Just watch Golmaal3 , Bappi da's magic can be profoundly felt. Of course , boorish posters here lack the ascthetic sense to appreciate great works. I would rate these two above mozart as well.

Khamoshi for instance- one of the best albums of the 90's for sure. DDLJ, KKHH too.

I pray to god that he has a very long life and good health and continue to enthrall everyone with his music. He is the one who has put Indian music on the international stage. It was not exactly his fault that people remember him for Kasam Paida Karne Waale ki type songs. Fairly recently I compiled a CD with song romantic songs and Bappi Lahiri surprised me so much with his compositions that I ended up creating the CD just with his songs! A few of what made on the list: a) Ek Baar Kaho. b) Chalte chalte c) Pyaar kabhi kam nahin karna koi sitam kar lena [ame= [/ame] d) Tumhara pyaar chahiye mujhe jeene ke liye e) Maana ho tum behad haseen aise boore hum bhi nahin f) Pyaar maanga hai tumhi se na inkaar karo. g) Muskurata hua gul khilaata hua mera yaar X1NIymj4NPY h) Yeh Naina yeh Kaajal yeh zulfein ye badal z4VrD1MmbbE i) Kissi nazar ko tera intezaar aaj bhi hai etc etc. In a strange way Bhapp Lahiri music was akin to the hero he probably gave music for most - Mithun Chakbarty. Both terrific talents(in my book) but both remembered more for Dalal and Disco Dancers. xxxx PS: I would guess none of ARR's love notes would come close to any on the songs on the above list.

Unlike other pieces of art or literature, music is not a stand-alone piece of creation. Its not like in art, where you can compare the work of two painters, or debate the literary credentials of two different authors. By and large, music always gets loaded with the extra baggage of the memories and reminiscences of the listener, from a particular period in time. I don’t know about you guys, but when I listen to certain songs, it always brings back memories of a certain stage of my life. In essence, how good a song feels to me is not just based on its merits as a creator's work in isolation, but also the memories I append to it, which now make our judgments of that music, completely subjective. You cant beat nostalgia!

I agree with you that Bappi has delivered some good music. However, besides some trashy general quality it was his plagiarism which really puts me off him. The same is true for Anu Malik - he has delivered the odd good album amongst a load of trash, but it's the plagiarism which is really off putting. However, I find it insulting to Mithun when you compare him to Bappi. Mithun is genuinely an excellent actor - one can question his choice of movies, roles, and scripts, but whoever has watched Mrigya and Tahader Katha would be hard pressed to criticize his acting abilities. My feeling is that one point he decided to earn money through trash and keep doing the occasional art house movie to explore his talent. As for Bappi, the guy has stolen so much that it's hard to trust which of his good creations are actually his. Once he became big he just might have been swindling tunes from upcoming and trying music directors. But, even if I were to not consider that scenario the quality is too far between for me to consider him as more than the occasional hack who hit the right tunes once in a while.
