lee Tyers: Fraudster who put his pubic hair in curry to get free meal is jailed

A shameless fraudster was caught by the short and curlies when he put his own pubic hair into his curry - just to get a free meal at an Indian restaurant. Tight-fisted Lee Tyers got his comeuppance when he was jailed for refusing to pay a bill of just £39.55. He was caught on CCTV with his hand down his trousers just before the hair was found. Magistrates heard he pulled it out towards the end of his meal at Jamal's Fine Dining Indian restaurant. The 40-year-old claimed he had found it in what was left of his lamb bhuna - and tried to use it as an excuse for not paying. But angry restaurant owner Jamal Chowdhury told the court Tyers was constantly trying to avoid paying for meals and owed £110 from previous visits. He was warned he would only be served if he paid, though he was not expected to settle the earlier debt, Teesside magistrates heard. But he claimed he had cash, ordering two lamb bhunas, pilau rice, naan, drinks, a chapati and a shish kebab for himself and a friend. The pair ate their meal, before Tyers called over a waiter to complain about the hair in his food. After some discussion, the pair refused to pay and left the restaurant in Middlesbrough, Cleveland. Mr Chowdhury told the court: "I told him all the staff have black hair and this is brown, it's not our hair. "I told him if you pay for the meal now I will look at the CCTV and if I find there's something wrong I will pay him back. "I told him: 'If you don't pay, I will call the police'. I said: 'You are trying to ruin my business'." Tyers denied the incident with the hair. He claimed his friend was paying the bill, but Mr Chowdhury demanded what was owed from previous visits. Alex Bousfield, defending, said there was no physical evidence of the hair as the plate was not kept for police after the meal. Arrested two days after the meal in November last year, Tyers refused to answer any questions about the incident. He denied a charge of fraud by false representation but was found guilty. David Ward, prosecuting, said Mr Chowdhury was a "nice man" and Tyers was taking advantage of good nature. He added: "If Mr Chowdhury was offered £39.55, why wouldn't he take it? There is nothing on the CCTV that shows anybody trying to pay." Tyers, of Mount Leven Rd, Yarm, North Yorkshire, was sentenced to two weeks in jail after magistrates found Mr Chowdhury to be a "consistent and credible" witness. He was also ordered to pay £39.55 compensation.

Chinese Teenager Ding Jinhao Defaces 3,500-Year-Old Egyptian Luxor Temple By Engraving His Name

The 15-year-old was visiting the Luxor site, originally built by Amenhotep III in the 14th century BC and completed by Ramessess II, when he felt compelled to scrawl "Ding Jinhao visited here" in Mandarin across one of the sandstone carvings. The vandalism was photographed by another Chinese tourist, who posted it on social networking site Weibo, with the comment: "My saddest moment in Egypt. Ashamed and unable to show my face." The post subsequently went viral, with networkers engaging in a sinisterly termed "human flesh search" as they worked to track him down. As he had cunningly left his name, Ding was quickly revealed to be a middle school student in Nanjing, east China's Jiangsu Province. According to the Beijing News, Ding's school website was hacked on Sunday, with visitors forced to click on a message box which read "Ding has visited this place" before being granted access to the site. Many Chinese citizens criticised Ding's act as an embarrassment to the country. "Why there are so many citizens who go abroad and humiliate us? How many generations will it take to change this kind of behaviour?'' Xuan Kejiong, a prominent journalist with Shanghai Television, wrote on his microblog. At a conference to implement newly passed tourism laws earlier this month, vice premier Wang Yang said tourists who behaved badly hurt the nation's image, The South China Morning Press reports. Ding's parents have issued a public apology via an interview with a Nanjing newspaper. His mother told local newspaper Modern Express: "We want to apologise to the Egyptian people and to people who have paid attention to this case across China." The reporter who interviewed the boy's parents in turn told the Global Times: "The boy... has cried all night. He has had to be moved around because reporters rushed to their house for interviews." Thankfully, the Egyptian ministry of antiquities said the damage to the temple was superficial and was being repaired.

Bank Employee In Germany Naps On Keyboard, Accidentally Transfers Millions An obviously tired German bank employee fell asleep on his keyboard and accidentally transformed a minor transfer into a 222 million euro ($293 million) order, a court heard Monday. The Hessen labour court heard that the man was supposed to transfer just 62.40 euros from a bank account belonging to a retiree, but instead "fell asleep for an instant, while pushing onto the number 2 key on the keyboard" -- making it a huge 222,222,222.22 euro order. The bank discovered the mistake shortly afterwards and corrected the error. The case was taken to court by the man's 48-year-old colleague who was fired for letting the mistake slip through when verifying the order. The court ruled that the plaintiff should be reinstated in his job.

Rajasthan man shocked to receive SSC exam admit card with Barack Obama's photo Believe it or not. A Rajasthan school owner received an admit card with his name and the photograph of US President Barack Obama pasted on it for a junior engineer examination conducted by the Centre in Delhi. 40-year-old Lalu Ram Meena was taken aback when he opened the letter which came by ordinary post to him on June 8 for the exam the next day for which he had never applied. The card is duly signed by the authority with seal. It has a roll number – 2201000509 – and the examination centre was mentioned as being near Tuglakabad metro station in Badarpur. The exam was for Part B electrical, in general engineering, conducted by central government's Staff Selection Commission. "I was shocked to see the admit card in my name because I never applied for such a post. "What was more shocking for me was the picture of US President Barack Obama as the candidate in the admit card," Ram, a father of four children, said. "There is a signature below the picture of Obama but that is not my signature," he said. Date of birth of the candidate mentioned in the admit card is 05-10-1987 while his date of birth is 01-01-1973. He is an Arts graduate who has done his BEd and is now running the school in Rambas village in Dausa. When contacted, Dausa District Collector Muktanand Agrawal said that he was not aware of any such matter. "I have no such matter in my knowledge," Agrawal, who took over as Collector today, said. The village falls under the jurisdiction of Sainthal police station which said it has not got any information on the issue.
