Despite their creativity, at least one could be facing charges for being drunk behind the wheel. A BMW convertible first aroused the suspicions of a motorcycle cop on patrol in the eastern German town of Eibenstock when water sloshed out of it as it drove around a curve. When the officer pulled the car over, he could hardly believe his eyes. In a police report released on Monday, he described encountering an "a convertible of a slightly different kind." The car had been converted into a swimming pool on wheels complete with a wooden railing and cheap floral decoration that could have come out of a chintzy Hawaiian hotel. In addition to the driver, the officer also found two young men sitting inside in bathing suits and a third sitting on the trunk, dipping his feet in the "pool". The car reportedly only had one functioning gear, but could travel at speeds of up to 25 kilometers per hour (15.5 mph). The vehicle was also lacking a license plate. With the cop in hot pursuit, the men drove into a parking lot, jumped out of the car and fled the scene -- likely, the officer believed, because they were drunk. Police found that the car had been sealed using synthetic material and filled with around 2,000 liters (530 gallons) of water. It attracted so many spectators that the officer had to call for reinforcements. But Is It Illegal? A 27-year-old recognized by the police officer as the driver later returned to collect his belongings, but claimed he hadn't been behind the wheel. Police had let the air out of the tires and disconnected the spark plug by then to ensure it couldn't be driven further. The police said they let the man take his shoes and wallet but ordered a blood test to determine whether he had been drinking. Since then, the men have had second thoughts about the caper. One of them told the tabloid Bild that "the ride was a stupid idea. It was the first time we drove on a street and we just wanted to have a little fun." Police are currently investigating possible charges for drunk driving and driving without insurance. But there's one question that even police experts have been unable to answer: Is it illegal to drive a swimming pool?

"Royal baby could cause tourism surge as well-wishers flock to UK," the paper trumpeted just after the birth of the new Prince of Cambridge. "As London wakes up to the aftermath of a giant party on the Mall and the announcement that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have a son, there are hopes that the birth of the new royal baby will spark a tourism boom as well-wishers flock to the UK to share in the joy," Britain's second best-selling paper went on in its picture-rich splash. "The spell cast by the monarchy's 1,000-year history, combined with the international media frenzy around the royal baby, is extremely powerful at drawing people to England," Lady Cobham, chair of the tourist body VisitBritain, is quoted as saying Not alone The Daily Mail wasn't alone in predicting such an effect. "Hotels and attractions" in London were set to capitalize on the "royal baby boom," observed the International Business Times. And that boom was apparently resonating beyond London. "Royal attractions in Edinburgh are expecting a surge in visitor numbers as tourists flock to share in the baby joy," the article said. Yet further afield (although still in a Commonwealth country) the travel editor of the Star, in Toronto, was not "necessarily gung ho" about the royal family but he still devoted a blog post to the "bounce" it was sure to give British tourism. On social media, "A British Royal baby could spark a major boost to the UK tourism industry," was a typical comment from Airwise News. Where's the evidence? Looking for evidence for the widely touted princeling-tourism connection, the evidence becomes less clear. Certainly tourists flocked to Buckingham Palace in advance of the birth, awaiting confirmation of the baby's arrival. "Our holiday was booked months ago, so we did not expect to be over here while the baby was happening [but we've] been told to bring back as many newspapers and souvenirs with the baby on as possible," Matthew and Donna Harold, from Michigan, told the Telegraph. A scan of social media reveals the odd international prince-fixated quote, such as this from a tweeter in Fort Lauderdale, Florida: "Dear Kate Middleton, Please wait to have the Royal Baby until Thursday. Thank you, Annie Harley, an American Tourist." But are there any hard numbers to support the idea of a baby-born tourist surge? The Mail did cite a statistical precedent. In 2012, it said, the Queen's Diamond Jubilee year, tourist visits (at 31 million) were at their highest level since the beginning of the economic downturn in 2008. However, even if hotels near Kensington Palace are throwing caution to the wind with "Tot-ter Around Kensington" shop-and-stay packages and converting luxury suites into five-star nurseries for the occasion, that still doesn't turn correlation into cause. Negative effect? If anything, the numbers point the other way. A recent story in the Guardian refers to a document obtained under Freedom of Information legislation from Visit Britain on the marriage between Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson in 1986. "We find that across the year as a whole there were 4% fewer visitors to Britain than in 1985, but that in July [1986] there were 8% fewer than in July of 1985," the document says. "uch as it is, the evidence points to royal weddings having a negative impact on inbound tourism." Graham Smith, chief executive office of the campaign group Republic, concurs. The argument that royal births, weddings and anniversaries benefit tourism is "a complete fiction," he tells CNN. "There's not a shred of evidence for it. People don't make holiday decisions on the basis of who's living in what castle. "Tourists are here for our culture, our common language. They may come and look at palaces but the fairy tale side of it is there regardless of whether the monarchy is or not. "People have nothing [substantive] to say in defense of the monarchy so come up with a financial argument." Culture and heritage "We know that visitors drawn to Britain by the appeal of our culture and heritage spend over £4.5 billion annually and support around 100,000 jobs," a VisitBritain official tells CNN. "This in part can be attributed to attractions and events with a connection to Britain's monarchs past and present." Kate and William's wedding in 2011, VisitBritain says, "brought record numbers of visitors for the summer opening of Buckingham Palace. More than 600,000 people passed through the gates to see the Duchess of Cambridge's wedding dress. "That smashed the previous attendance figure set in 1994 and was an increase of almost 50%" on the previous year, says VisitBritain. Such figures are compelling. But he was superstitious too — so superstitious that he ended his life on Thursday, all because a crow perched itself on his head -- twice -- the previous day. Anand committed suicide allegedly by consuming poison at his rented accommodation on 3rd Cross, 5th Main, Manjunath Nagar in Rajajinagar. The incident came to light Thursday morning after his older brother, who was in Gadag (420 km from Bangalore near Dharwad), got worried and came to check on him. Preliminary investigations revealed that Anand got very upset after a crow sat on his head on Wednesday. He immediately called up his mother and narrated the entire incident to her, expressing fears that it augured ill — a belief among a section of Hindus. His mother tried to allay his fears and told him to visit the Hanumantharaya Swamy temple and light a lamp. Anand, however, was not convinced and went home and locked himself up before taking the drastic step. “My brother had called my mother, Parvathi, and told her about the crow. He was very tense when he spoke. My mother rushed to an astrologer and on his advice told Anand to pray at the Hanumantharaya Swamy temple," V H Hampanna, elder brother of the victim, told Bangalore Mirror. He went on to add that a few minutes later he called up Anand, but didn’t get any response. He presumed his younger sibling was resting as he used to wake up by 5.30 am to go to work and take a nap after returning from work around 4.45 pm. Hampanna said he came to Bangalore on Thursday morning, and when Anand failed to open the door despite repeated knocking, he let himself in with his spare keys. “Once I opened the door, I found my brother lying on the floor with froth coming out of his mouth. I immediately rushed him to a private hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,†he said. Colleagues told the police a visibly disturbed Anand had narrated the incident to them on reaching office on Wednesday morning. He had told them the first time the crow perched itself on his head, he took to his heels. But he had a second brush with the persistent crow, following which he again fled the spot. Later, he took the office bus. Hampanna and Anand were living together in the rented house. Hampanna had gone to Gadag when Anand took the extreme step. Anand, who had completed his BE from a college in Gadag, had been a trainee engineer with HAL for the past seven months. Hampanna, however, said they were awaiting the post-mortem report as no poison bottle was found in the house. “I am waiting for the post-mortem report, but even I think he took the extreme step due to the crow incident.†Police said it was likely Anand consumed the poison elsewhere, and had then come home and locked himself in. His body was handed over to the family after post-mortem. A case of unnatural death was registered at Basaveshwaranagar police station, and investigation is on. :facepalm:

Suvabrata had spiked the food of his employers and run away with cash and valuables worth Rs. 25 lakh from their home in Navi Mumbai's Vashi in April this year. To ensure that that the senior couple, retired marine engineer Deepak Raut, 69, and his wife Amita, 65, knew the friend request was from him, he posted a picture of himself reclining on a bed. A pervert, presumably a man, who routinely throws Central Railway schedules into disarray by crapping in the ladies' compartments of trains starting from Karjat is now at the centre of a massive manhunt launched by the railway police. The sicko smears the entire compartment with the poop, leading to a time-consuming clean-up job that not only delays that train, but sets back time-tables of a minimum of 16 to 20 more trains by 15 to 30 minutes. It was in April when the CR was first hit by this freak trouble and it was dismissed by officials as a one-off incident. However, since then, the man has hit the services twice a week on an average, forcing railway bosses to set up a special team to track him. The last incident was reported on Thursday when women at Neral refused to board the 7 am CST train because of the awful smell in the ladies compartment. The station officials did not even need to check what the problem was - they knew their man had hit again. Since there was no cleaning staff available at Neral, the Kalyan station manager was alerted. The train left Kalyan at 8.30 am after a thorough cleaning. The disruption, however, had a cascading effect, and nearly 20 services through the day were delayed by 15 to 30 minutes. Sheela Patankar, who works in Nariman Point, said Thursday was the second time she was delayed. "It's sickening. This man is unhinged and must be sent to a mental asylum," she said. Patankar's assessment matches that of Mukesh Nigam, Divisional Railway Manager, CR. "This man is mentally disturbed. And yes, our investigations have revealed it is probably the handiwork of just one man. But then, one can't be sure," he said. Psychiatrist Dr Harish Shetty said it's an immense amount of anger at work. "This man is no just mentally ill, he is on the verge of a breakdown. He gets some pleasure out of leaving women angry and disturbed." Describing the difficulty in catching the pervert, Nigam said the railway police have concluded that the man enters trains parked in sidings between Karjat and Diva. "That's 57 km. There are five sidings (parking areas for trains) between Karjat and Diva - Karjat, Thakurli, Titwala, Ambernath and Kalyan. Nearly 27 rakes are parked across these sidings. It's a nightmare patrolling such a large area," said a senior CR official. Another CR officer, who did not wish to be identified, said apart from increased patrolling, he has asked the Eureka Forbes staff, who clean trains, to keep a watch. "We have told them to wait till the trains leave. But it has been of little help." The CR has been hit by this stink bomb just after they caught a boy who used to tamper with junction boxes, stalling trains. "It took months to catch him. He is just 16. He did it for fun," said a senior railway police officer. Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, CR, Alok Bohra, is confident that the man defecating in women's compartments will also be caught soon. "Patrolling between Karjat and Diva has been intensified. Ihave instructed all my men to keep a watch. Since we have a time window when this happens, we will focus more resources during that period. "I went in to order seven McDoubles and one McChicken and one fry,†Lorenzo Riggins told local station WALB-TV. But he says that's not what he walked away with. "When I got to my truck and I got ready to leave, I looked in my bag and come to find out I had six McDoubles," the Albany, Ga., resident said. He said he went back into the restaurant to get his other McDouble but didn’t get any satisfaction. "She was trying to get an attitude with me, and I said I'm going to call the police," the dissatisfied customer said. And he did, but that's when he got double trouble rather than another McDouble. Riggins was arrested and charged with violation of the emergency 911 telephone service, according to WALB. "I called the police" he said, and thought everything was "cool." "I didn't know I was misusing 911," Riggins said. Riggins told WALB-TV that all he wanted was respect; the police told WALB-TV that misuing 911 is no joke. The police also took Riggins to jail. The close friends, who were volunteering for a charity after finishing their A-levels, had argued with a local shopkeeper days before two men on a moped threw acid over them, burning their faces and bodies. Katie had also been slapped by a local woman for singing during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, and a friend of the girls suggested they may have been singled out because they are Jewish. A radical Islamic preacher who has urged followers on the island to protest against Western influences on Zanzibar, a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania, is among those who police want to question. But the girls had also had run-ins with local people. Oli Cohen, a close friend of Katie, said: “The girls were walking through the town singing during Ramadan when a Muslim lady came up to her shouting. She lost her temper and reacted violently - and hit her in the face for singing. :wall: “They were both extremely shaken up by it. I think white north London Jewish girls walking around in Zanzibar always make them a target as it's a Muslim country.†Bashir Ismail, of Art in Tanzania, said the girls had argued with a nearby shop owner a few days ago when they went for groceries.
