Just see the different ways he says behenc#$ to his own players. uv and utthappa are the biggest hitters in INDIA apart from PATHAN.... Any small school boy of class 4th who follows cricket knows this.. my son ( who is in 4th) was asking me ysterday why are uthappa and UV not coming to BAT .. i dont know why do captains dont do the basic things right... just send ur no 1 , no 2 and ur no 3 batsmen up the order ... i mean the best batsmen should come at no 1 no2 and no 3 ...i feel jesse ryder , uthappa shud open and UV shud come at 1 down..followed by manish and then he needs to decide... in the world cup our 2 best batters Sachin and Sehwag came up and the first game Sehwag clicked and we scored around 370 ,,, then our fielders slept and rested and bowlers also rested still bangla cud score only 270. just see dhoni's captaincy.. he sent sachin sehwag followed by gambhir then virat or UV and then himself then usuf and /or raina.. thats the way to go....give ur best batsman the first chance to pad up, if sehwag clicks then the other team may come to the field to participate in the match but will not come to compete in the match. if sachin clicks then also we can be in a winning position.. like that. play jessy uthapa and himself up the order and score 120 odd runs and a few runs other team mates will score.

No captain deserves to win if he does not do the basics right... cricket is a simple game do the basics right.. one needs to follow the basics in t 20 and one days ..for tests u may have a little different strategy..Vishal
asterix Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 At this level you cannot get 7 times wrong..The issue is something else.. I think there's no co-ordination between the captain and the coach. UV is notorious in proving his point by losing matches. He has done it while playing for :kxip: So the rot is much deepr than it appears. I feel for Subrata Roy, the :pw: owner. He might have so much of hope of doing well, especially when it appeared that his group did reasonably well in the IPL auctions in getting good set of players. I think the biggest mistake he did was to rope in UV as a player and captain. A temperamental like UV is not fit to lead any team. A person whose mentality can be affected by various spiritual gurus, from whom he takes blessings, time to time. He might've blamed the present crisis due to the blessing he didn't got from one of his Gurus who declined to meet him and his mum as they were very late to visit him (he was supposed to see him in the evening but the mother and son duo reach the seminary at midnight, well after the Guru retired for the day and the duo was returned back).
ganeshran Posted May 5, 2011 Author Posted May 5, 2011 Yuvi is a good player but not a good captain. I dont think lack of captaincy skills diminishes his standing as a player. It requires a totally different set of skills other than cricketing. SRT also didnt do very well as a captain. But he understood that soon and stepped down as soon as a worthy successor came into place. Yuvi should do the same and concertate on his playing rather than captaincy. I think it hurt his ego that he was removed from captain and asked to play under Sanga. He should be like Viru who has no ego in captaincy matters.

someone Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 I do not think Yuvi is a bad captain. He does show support, remember Kamran Khan terrible match, he supported his players very much. But really the matter of fact is, if you team loses, everything is looked in detail. For example, If a captain remains composed like Dhoni, and loses the match, you will say he did not motivate his team and showed little support by not talking at all. If a captain shows emotions and loses the match, you will say that he is irresponsible.......

Not playing Paine as a specialist batsman and having Callum Ferguson playing instead.. $4m worth of talunt actually facing some deliveries (Flathappa and Yuvi) Baffling stuff before...
