Sidhoni Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Viru vs Pak : They never really bounced back from the assault. Raina was also brilliant in that match lower down the order and against Aussies
maniac Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Viru vs Pak : They never really bounced back from the assault. Raina was also brilliant in that match lower down the order and against Aussies Agree.....Took their in-form and best bowler out of equation
Crookbond Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Viru vs Pak : They never really bounced back from the assault. Raina was also brilliant in that match lower down the order and against Aussies Not true - they did in the form of Wahab Riaz. In fact, had it not been for Raina we may be staring down the barrel. Although, it was a good cameo.
Ram Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Nayan Mongia against the West Indies in the 96 world cup. We were tottering at 130/5, chasing 170. Mongia came in and played a couple of brave shots and took us home with help from Kambli.
jalebi_bhai Posted June 26, 2013 Posted June 26, 2013 Best World Cup cameo by an Indian?? Yuvraj Singh 58(16) vs England, 2007 T20 WC......that's when it all truly began for Dhoni & co.....had no doubts that we'd win the cup after that cameo....... http://www.espncricinfo.com/twenty20wc/engine/match/287873.html

jf1gp_1 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 everyone remembers this game for innings Sachin and Sehwag player not many will remember Kaif came at 4 after India lost 2 wickets in 2 balls took some body blows scored 35 hung around for 60 balls and let Sachin do the scoring. 2003 WC game against Pakistan http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65268.html
rkt.india Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Viru vs Pak : They never really bounced back from the assault. Raina was also brilliant in that match lower down the order and against Aussies How they did not bounce back? They did really well after such a start to stop India and if not for poor catching, we could have seen a different result.
philcric Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Nice memories...Good one VVS...Each one of those innings was incredible....I remember More playing another very small cameo against Aus in 1992 in a losing cause as well...It was incredible as it almost snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.Special mention to Manju in that match as well 1 over 13 to win. Bowler was Tom Moody. More hits first 2 balls for boundaries. 5 required off 4, More gets bowled, then 4 required off 1, Srinath almost hits the last ball for 6, steve waugh drops a catch at the boundary, batsmen manage to run 2 and one of the batsmen gets run out going for 3rd. India loses by 1 run. Of course that's all from memory, I may be a little off somewhere.
philcric Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 And Manju scored run-a-ball 46 in that match, the stand out shot being a straight 6 off Merv Hughes.
Crookbond Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 And Manju scored run-a-ball 46 in that match' date=' the stand out shot being a straight 6 off Merv Hughes.[/quote'] Discussion in videos section too - check it out.
vvvslaxman Posted June 27, 2013 Author Posted June 27, 2013 And Manju scored run-a-ball 46 in that match' date=' the stand out shot being a straight 6 off Merv Hughes.[/quote'] Played outside his capacity in that match. He was close to being dropped. I was gutted when they were run out.
Rocky Balboa Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Jadeja by a long margin.... Waqar never really recovered from that assault. He was never the same bowler again...
hassan_113 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Jadeja. We were hot favourites to win but that assault left a huge target to chase. It should've been chased down but erratic middle order shots cost us the game. Waqar got no reverse swing and was bowling too front on.
Sidhoni Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Not true - they did in the form of Wahab Riaz. In fact' date=' had it not been for Raina we may be staring down the barrel. hassan_113 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 To be honest I was comfortable chasing 230 in the semi-final but 260 seemed like a step too far as the ball was becoming harder to hit as the pitch slowed down. 4 dropped catches and erratic batting was the problem. India played solid professional cricket to win the day.
Crookbond Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 Sidhoni - You said Pakistan did not bounce back - in fact they did with Wahab Riaz picking up those quick wickets and our scoring rate dipped considerably. Had it not been for 4 dropped catches and a (I dare say) lucky hawk eye review - India would be staring down the barrel. Sehwag's and Raina's knock indeed was the difference but was not that Pakistan did not bounce back. They did.

Yeah they did with those 2 wickets in 2 balls of Kohli and Yuvi but they were never really on top. Even after those 2 wickets, Sachin was there and Dhoni, Raina to come. Once when Raina was left alone, they could have fancied their chances but Raina played a great knock to get us back.
