But he has this impulsive nature of trying to dominate bowling without respecting conditions and quality. In slightly favorable conditions for bowling , nothing wrong with taking a bit of time.

And against these pacers on fast pitches, disaster is waiting to happen... unless Dhawan can be told to wait out 1st hour... Dhawan seems like a new version of Veeru... attack at all time.. he gotta be in Warner mode.. balanced attack..

In general the Indian batting/bowling look clueless on this tour, they've come unprepared as to how they have to approach batting/bowling. You just cant replicate the kind of game you play in SC over here. Good thing though the tests are yet to come and they can still get their lengths right and also game plan with regards to batting.

See what Alistair cook is doing once he is up against a different kind of challenge. He is looking clueless, thinking is scrambled. Dhawan and Vijay are going to face an attack that is better than Australian bowling attack given the SA conditions. They have to take their time.

In the last match, Dhawan played a rash shot though, but it happens occasionally. Let's give them time till the end of the test series to form an opinion about their overseas prowess.

I am not worried with his strike rate today, since I know he does fine on that most of the time, but his purple match seem to have ended and he is having hard time to stay on the crease and score a fifty. He is getting out in 30s. He is getting start every game and getting out in 30s then. Today he tried somethign new. He tried to have a slow start which was being too negative. He thought solution to improve on that consistent 30s is to try slow, that's not the right way. He should play the way he does. He is atleast getting to 30s. He needs to concentrate on not palying crap shots and giving opposition a chance to claim a catch etc.

He needs to be more consistent but he's a key player. Warner was struggling in 2013 and look at him now, dhawan should be able to score in a more dominant way very soon. Hard worker and has won matches for india. Back him!

Maybe he should step out the crease a bit to get at it early? This can also negate some swing if there is any

Ozzies will get him in a jiffy.. probably champions trophy/tri series? he was mostly hitting 4s that hit the ground early then raced to the boundary. less risk. his issue is unneccesarily creating risks, like the tilted pull shot that got him out in todays match v pak
