shortbread Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 By now one thing can be confirmed that gambir will be a permanent fixture in the Indian team until he hits the central govt. retirement age of 62!!!! Why else is he part of the team?! In such a scenario gambir should only open on patta wickets against average bowlers (read trundlers eg. SL, NZ....), in any other situation let him come down the order to face spin. He is useless against decent bowlers and even worser in bowler friendly conditions (read seam, swing, pace etc....)

This guy like Ishant Sharma has never evolved in his career.I thought he would turn out better than Cook but Cook is on the way of becoming an all time great leaving this guy far behind.

Cevno Posted January 15, 2013 Posted January 15, 2013 Drop Gambhir for next game and play Pujara as opener. He is in good form and will be wasted otherwise. Already we put Rahane out of form by keeping him in squad and not playing him. Don't wanna do same with Pujara especially before Aussie tests.

Cook had technical problems too and struggled and england persisted with him.He changed his technique and with no batlift and he has done well since then.
