As far science goes, universe expands and collapsed so if we go by that theory, it was collapsed, and what was it before? = expanded, what was it before = collapsed. Lets put that aside, so we don't know everything but why GOD? then again who made god? why so many years of evolution before the worst animals ( mankind ) came in existence. Was god a director who wanted 20 odd billion years and then got us here who are the main characters of his movie and will eventually end it. In the story, there are wars, innocent lives been wasted, hatred, natural calamities etc etc....

Lurker Posted December 30, 2011 Posted December 30, 2011 What would it take for you to stop believing in god or if you are an atheist what would it take for you to believe in god? For some reason I have always thought God is related in a big way to concept of death. If we were all individuals only the concept of God would not be as important. However we are a social creature. Parents, lovers, spouses, kids, friends. The thought that we all have an expiry date and when we lose our loved ones they are simply gone forever is a pretty damn scary thought. This is where religion provides comfort to a Dad who has lost his young child, or a wife who has lost her husband..or just some punch drunk lover. They (we) find comfort in the thought that some day it would be okay. Now if there is no afterlife, and once somebody dies they simply vanish in a black hole forever, that would make me a complete athiest...and perhaps most people. What good is a religion, any religion, if there is no afterlife?

Superman 2. Genie 3. Hypocritical Tyrant 4. Infinity 5. Nothing 6. Universe I subscribe to the last one. The entire Universe, and that includes all of us, is God. Manifestations of the One.
