Looking at SRT's comments I think so....When sachin was new in indian team he was given long run to cement his place in indian odi team...Why sachin not thinking this way...Other Youngsters can also perform if given proper chances but this guy wants only his enjoyment..After Tour of england and Australia he still thinks he is on top of game......Next world cup is not in subcontinent...So he should give proper chance for youngsters to groom...Also Age affects reflexes..I think SRT should think for country instead of selfish attitude..He has Test cricket for him so why not give up odi format for youngsters..

I find Rahane more suitable for Test matches.
he is solid player yes.. but as we saw in our recent away matches even in odis our batting struggle so guy who makes 80 runs in 100 balls home and away is better then ftb who cant score 50 in whole tour .. just saying :two_thumbs_up:

I dont understand what Tendulkar playing or not has got to do with Rahane & Uthappa. Even if Tendulkar is not playing in ODIs the opening will be Gambhir and Sehwag. Rahane comes into the equation only if Sehwag or Gambhir are also not playing. Regarding Uthappa, he has been out of the reackoning in ODIs for so long and he has only himself to blame. Both of them can hope for a place in the Indian ODI squad...but either way Tendulkar has nothing to do with it. If they are so good, that they cannot be kept out of the squad, then they can always bat down the order.

I thought youngsters had to perform to get into the national side.
do you mean our youngsters are not performing or they were not grabbing the chances when given chances to play for our side ??

I think Rahane is more suitable in middle order. As far as Uthappa is concerned he must concentrate on playing along the ground to be considered in ODI's,this is where Sehwag trumps uthappa. As for your original question,if Sachin keeps performing then these guys can't get in.They don't have a right to be picked just because they are younger.

When Wasim Jaffer at 34, Badri at 32, and Sunil Joshi at 39 (till he retired) did not give up their hopes of playing for India, why should 22 year old Rahane and 26 year old Uthappa give up the hope of playing for India?

Sachin won't play many ODIs after this , so Rahane will get his chances. I'd still prefer Rahane in ODIs . Bit slow but solid and more capable of seeing off the new ball and playing long innings.
