i'm worried. a piece of **** team like the west indies took two test matches to the fifth day and kept it close, NZ took a test match to the fifth day and kept it close...and those teams obviously aren't as good as england, so whats gonna happen now? then you have crap bowlers like jeetan patel and darren sammy taking wickets regularly in those tests, so whats gonna happen against far better bowlers such as swann and finn? we saw what a decent bowler could do to this batting lineup when southee took a seven wicket haul in one innings, england have at least 3 bowlers that are just as good. nobody other than pujara or kohli looks like scoring runs. sehwag, gambhir, tendulkar aren't getting big scores. dhoni can't score against good bowlers. after many years, the team has a long tail again with guys like zaheer, ojha and yadav. compare that to england, who are stacked all the way down to number 10. england batsmen are also better than those scrubs that play for NZ and WI. if india play the way they did in the last home series vs NZ/WI, etc. they are most definitely gonna lose. this team will need to improve a heck of a lot just to be competitive. on the bright side, we will definitely wallop them in the ODI series...B->B->B->B->

Absolutely do care, England/Australia performed well on their home ground and won much praise, we need to do the same which makes this series even more important. Performances like 2008 in Australia etc are what gives us the title of "great" but this series keeps us up there. What teams nowadays dominates home and away - none, since the Australian team under Waugh everyone has had the odd win here and there but nothing more.

After the 8-0 whitewash overseas.. do we really care about in-home tournaments? There is nothing much left to prove in home for the Indian team.. Yes, we are flat track bullies.. we will put up gargantuan scores or even chase such scores down easily... It will be a batting fiesta... and we will very easily outshine the batting efforts of the opposition more often than not. Other than the general curiosity of the outcome.. do we really care that much about the forthcoming Eng vs India series?...For me at least.. I'll never get excited about our team unless we prove ourselves overseas first. Your take?

:facepalm::facepalm: Yeah the home series are not a series... You do realise India probably won't lose away again. I mean in Eng, SA, Aus they never used to lose until the 5 batters were out of form or too old to deliver. I expect Pujara, Kohli etc to perform better than other teams batsmen like the Khawaja's etc on their pitches in the next tour. Bowling was chit even when we didn't lose for so long. Aus series 08' loss was cheating and we all know it. But bowlers like umesh have much more potential than the trundlers we've always had.

+ 1 As much as I hate to remember our dire results overseas in the past year, in general, cricket is sport where home teams invaribly bullies the opposition (Aus, Eng, Ind, even Sa few years back).

I guess I didn't articulate my cause that well... Let me assure you, I'll be following the Ind vs Eng series as well... with as much interest and enthusiasm... but when looking at the big picture.. my point is.. we know we do well in house on flat batting tracks.. and it's not just that we have to prove ourselves abroad.. as much important that is.. but that we have been defeated miserably there... earning the repudiation of cricketing pundits everywhere as been flat track bullies who only win when they have the home advantage. For me, the 8-0 loss has only gone to consolidate that notion. Any Victory in house is not gonna get me that excited.. sure it'll help our rankings etc.. but it'll always be a fact until proven otherwise.. that we can't have a resounding win elsewhere. For a team where players make millions of dollars and are one of the most hyped and lauded... something really seems to be missing. It's like those Wall Street investors.. they make hundreds of thousands of dollars with really little or no real intelligence or skill... our cricketers and the aura that our team exudes... seems to fall flat .. in the wake of true performance and results.

If wickets are so flat in India, why do Aussies and England team struggle here ? The pitches in India offer turn, so they are not flat. They are good for spinners. Just because they are not good for seam bowlers, doesnt mean they are flat. Know the difference.
