Kamal Haasan threatens to leave country over 'Vishwaroopam' row Chennai: Actor Kamal Haasan on Wednesday threatened to leave country if he doesn't get justice for his film 'Vishwaroopam'. The actor was speaking on Tamil Nadu government's appeal against the Madras High Court verdict that allows big-budget thriller 'Vishwaroopam' to release in the state. "I am not a communal person. I have no political inclinations, neither have any rationalistic streak. This is the game of political parties. They are playing games with the sentiments of the people," said Hassan. Also read: TN govt appeals against nod for 'Vishwaroopam' | Madras HC lifts ban on 'Vishwaroopam' He threatened that if he could not find a secular place in India, then he would find it in some other country. He said that he would emulate MF Husain and flee to another country and refuse to come back to India. Here are the highlights: I have pledged all my property for the film, says Kamal Haasan. The story setting is in Afghanistan. I wonder how it is about Indian Muslims: Kamal Haasan. I appeal to my fans to maintain peace and calm, says Kamal Haasan. I have lost my house because of the delay in its release: Kamal Haasan. I have been made an instrument along with Muslim friends, says Haasan. I do not know who is playing the game, says Haasan. I wonder how one movie could knock this mighty nation's unity: Haasan. After this I will have to seek a secular state for me to stay in - from Kashmir to Kerala - excluding Tamil Nadu... I will look for a state to stay: Kamal Haasan. If I cannot find in India, I will hopefully find another secular country that will take me in: Kamal Haasan. MF Hussain had to do it, Haasan will do it: Kamal Haasan. I think Tamil Nadu wants me out: Kamal Haasan. http://www.newsbullet.in/india/34-more/39007-kamal-haasan-threatens-to-leave-country-over-vishwaroopam-row

How did Amma's govt end up banning the movie ? Isn't her party an important NDA member, which would mean they don't have much of a minority vote bank ? Some strange business this, secular Congress (Manish Tiwari) supporting the movie and right wing bandwagoner banning it :hmmmm2:

Watched the movie on saturday in Bangalore.Pretty good. Cant see anything offensive towards muslims. No idea what the fuss is about
Finding offense in everything, no matter how innocuous it maybe, has become an art. Our (Muslim) leadership in India, only focuses on such things, which are actually non issues. I'm guessing a fatwa and a protest march against the sun is on the cards. How dare it shine with equal intensity on the kafirs as well as the believers!

C_R, don't you follow Tamil? All this while, I was under the impression that you are a Tamilian.

That much I gather. But I was under the impression that C_R was a Tamil speaking, CSK fan. If not from Chennai/TN , one would have to be severely demented to support CSK. Hence the question. FYI: Mumbai too, is to the south of the Vindhyas. :D

Chidambaram in a function last month saying that he could become a PM. JJ was irked by this and she is settling the scores now.

Last time she was partner of NDA was in 2004 lok Sabha elections when ADMK got wiped out in all forty seats. Her Hindutva / Pro RSS agenda was a key reason in those defeats. Ever since no major party in TN got into coalition with BJP nor can I see anyone doing in the near future Most Muslim voters are neutral in TN so u often see both DMK and ADMK trying to pander as pro-Islamic to get their votes . This is one similar attempt/ chance by Jaya to boost her pro- Islamic image with lok sabha elections coming in 2014.

^ Interesting, TFS. Amma though appears to be on jolly good terms with Modi, she must be the most powerful non-BJP personality to attend his swearing in ceremony.

CSK ? Blasphemy. I am from Bangalore. Know Tamil a bit, but not hardcore as in that video. In cricket and other rivalry, we hate each other, remember Cauvery? We are all tambis when it comes matters towards north.

Absolutely ridiculous to ban or put a stay on this movie's release. Everything is politicized in this country for votes. Screw this BS.
Yeah, ****ing disgrace. Absolute disgrace. This competitive lazy politics of getting offended is going OTT. We almost need a US style first amendment. Some state governments should be dismissed for this. Hopefully this matter goes to the right bench in SC.

Seems to be some sort of personal targetting of Haasan as Karunanidhi has supported him too. Something weird happening here.

But you can say that DMK is a minority driven party- amma even has made fun of that...wheras ADMK is the exact opposite.

If there is a ban because of threat of violence from some fringe Hindu groups' date=' it would have been a burning issue in national English media , ridiculous that media is restricted itself to reporting rather than taking on this shameful ban big time...[/quote'] LOL! "Fringe" Hindu groups have in the past succeeded to stall the release of a film not for it's contents but because the lead is a traitor according to them. They didn't even require a court order to do that.

Feel bad seeing 58 year old repeatedly pleading, he should leave this country. He has skills and he can earn money again. We all want US/Canada/UK/OZ visa on our passport and ready to follow their laws, but we are hell bent on making our country a living hell. India is worst country on this planet today.
