This is pathetic that some chutias can make this guy go broke. He has his 100 cr invested in this movie. In fact he should sue the state and those chutia groups

Lets establish a hundred offices in every state for every damn group of society to review a movie and decide whether it offends them. A thousand scissors shall be provided free of cost for all the chopping of film reels that shall be performed. While we're at it, dismantle the censor board. Proactive movie directors can involve the thekedaars of all these groups in the film making process so as to avoid potential delays and protests.

Ram Posted February 3, 2013 Posted February 3, 2013 Drove 90 miles today watch this move with buddies - Now, onto the burning question - Is there anti-Muslim content in the movie or have Muslims deliberately been portrayed in a bad light? I would say not. The whole movie is set in the backdrop of Islamic terrorism. A large part of the plot actually unfolds in Afghanistan. How could all of this be translated into reel without Muslims in it? What's the alternative? Lets show buddist terrorists? Or maybe scientology terrorists? I'd say that would fail even the basic test of authenticity. And just so that we are clear, Kamal is the last guy on this planet you'd expect to portray minorities or any one particular religion in bad light. His agnostic views are world famous and he's expressed his skepticism about all religions. If anything, coming from a Brahmin Iyengar family, in the past, he has reserved most of his pointed jabs at Hinduism and Hindu Gods. If at all you can 'accuse' of him a thing, it is the openly virulent socialist, liberal views he has expressed in so many of his previous movies. But Kamal, anti-Muslim? hell no! About the move itself, lets start off with the positives. Its an ambitious project that aims at taking a fairly complicated plot built on a world-wide setting and converting that into a screen play and my Kudos to Kamal for investing almost of his personal fortune into this venture. Its so nice to see Indian films evolve from their traditional screen plays and aim higher in the sky. There are no utterly pointless songs that have no relevance to the screen play, there are no punch dialogues, no fancy opening fight sequences and no frivolous scenes. The movie's pretty serious and that sentiment shines thru in almost every scene. There are some pretty good action sequences (by Indian standards). And most important of 'em all, probably for the first time in Indian cinema (and probably in world-wide mainstream cinema as well), there is a concerted effort to shine some light on the Jihadi life - How they live, how they think, their mindset, their families, their modus operandi etc. That is quite refreshing. Kamal, as you'd expect, shines like the north star. Whether portraying the reticent, brahmin dance teacher in the opening sequence or any of his other characterizations in the movie (I am trying not to say too much here). For once, unlike say in a movie like Dasaavatharam where he clearly decided up front that his acting skills need to be brought to the forefront and then built a screen play around, his portrayal in this move hits the right level of subtlety. On the negative side, I am sad to say, there are many faults. Where do I even begin? The screen play, the backbone of any compelling feature film, is not lousy, but is not as tight as it could have been. At several points in the movie, you will be left wondering which timeline are you staring at, as the movie constantly alternates b/w the past and the present. These jumps are not fluid, which subsequently results in you getting distracted and losing attention. That is the nightmare scenario for any director. The plot could have been faster at times. Kamal's character has been built badly. It is not until very late in the movie before you understand whether he's the good guy or the bad guy. If they wanted to deliberately that create that effect, the implementation of that strategy was bad. His relationship with Rahul Bose leaves you scratching your head, even as the movie ends. There are several characters that are not plainly required (hint hint, Andrea. She's quite cute though). And as you would expect for budgetary reasons, the casting of American characters leaves a lot to be desired. Most of them look like they are getting in front of the camera for the first time in their lives. This has always been my fear when I go to watch any movie that Kamal directed or wrote. The guy's a BRILLIANT, BRILLIANT artiste, one of the best ever India, even the world, has to offer. But his screenplay skills are not as polished as his acting skills. He tries to cram in too much into too little a space. And that shows at several times. If you go to the movie expecting a water-tight screen play that has you on the edge of the seats all the time, you'll be disappointed. But if you are a fan of India cinema and want our Industry to progress towards more meaningful films, then you should go watch this movie. That's why I did.

That's why I did. not memorable or engaging to any extent. he has to stop writing scripts first. storytelling is not everyone's forte.i was sceptical for the same reasona nd my worst was confirmed. . I am amazed how our filmmakers cannot discern or borrow even a simple formula employed by Hollywood movies. create three/four major gripping scenes. it surely cannot be explained by budget limitations! they have to think hard. this story just limped towards a climax with no adrenaline rush or anxiety. the dialogues were not interesting enough.To have a hit, the dialogues have to be memorable and engaging, even if there is no punch lines rajni style. the intensity of confrontation can also work.(as in case of singam or VV) but it was lame here. you cannot compromise on the script. the presence of weak American actors made the movie look amateurish because americans were playing a major role in some action here.this was not the right movie to try that BS. the film may simply work for sometime because of the sleek presentation.
