Trichromatic Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Indian middle class pays Rs 15 for 1 bottle of water, Rs 20 for ice-cream cone, but complains for Re 1 price rise in wheat and rice. If items are procured at higher price then it will be available at higher price in market. Indian middle class complains too much. He was saying that in a press conference. I don't remember exact words.
jusarrived Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Completely agree . Most useless section of the society .
Trichromatic Posted July 10, 2012 Author Posted July 10, 2012 4.00pm: Chidambaram says that food inflation is high because of higher procurement prices that has benefitted millions of farmers. We cannot look at everything from a middle class point of view he said. Chidambaram asks why the Indian middle class is willing to pay Rs 15 for a bottle of water or Rs 20 for an ice cream but be unwilling to pay Rs 1 extra for a kilo of wheat or rice. 3.45pm: Chidambaram is now talking about the UPA achievements in the power and education sectors. He says that in the power sector, India has been able to generate 22,502 mega watts of additional power capacity, electrify 8000 new villages and has become the second fastest growing telecom market in the world. In terms of education, the Home Minister says that the government has been responsible for building 500 classrooms, appointing 6.8 lakh new teachers and implanting the largest ever mid day meal system that feeds 11 crore children everyday. Chidambaram also points to compulsory free education, the launch of the Aakash tablet and the National Institute of technology bill as other significant achievements of the government in this field. 3.36pm: Home Minister P Chidambaram begins by briefing the media on the economic situation in the country. He begins by reminding those gathered there that the first couple of years of the UPA regime showed record high growth for the country, but admits that the last year has been difficult for the government. He says that India was hit by the eurozone crisis just as they came out of the 2008 financial crisis. Saying that the eurozone crisis was even worse than the 2008 crisis, Chidambaram said however that India was still one of the fastest growing countries in the world, apart from China and some other countries. He said that he was confident that the country would return to a high growth path very soon. Ÿe will get out of this trough? he said. PTI 3.30pm: Home Minister P Chidambaram and Salman Khurshid are briefing the media as part of a countrywide tour undertaken by representatives of the GoM across the country. A spokesman for the GoM says that the ministers are briefing the media as part of its regular tradition of interacting with the media. http://www.firstpost.com/india/middle-class-will-pay-rs-15-for-water-but-not-rs-1-more-for-rice-chidu-373425.html
Lurker Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Indian middle class pays Rs 15 for 1 bottle of water' date= Rs 20 for ice-cream cone, but complains for Re 1 price rise in wheat and rice. If items are procured at higher price then it will be available at higher price in market. Indian middle class complains too much. And the transformation to everything capitalism is complete. :hatsoff: Che**yabaram needs to realize that ice-cream and water bottle are not neccessities of life. Not every person needs to eat them 3 times a day (people in Gurgaon and South Mumbai dont count as people :--D ). Doubt if middle class complains about extra cost benefitting the farmers of the nation. But I suppose we can all agree that the extra cost (1 rupee in this case) will hardly make it to the farmer and only line-up the middlemen's pocket.
coffee_rules Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 What a load of crap! Didn't know middle class people eat Ice-cream 3 times a day?

Clarke Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 Chidambaram says that food inflation is high because of higher procurement prices that has benefitted millions of farmers. FACT: Farmers commit suicide every day FACT: effin middlemen make the money, the same ones that pushed their collective energy in blocking FDI in retail. This kind of trolling is what one could expect of Pawar, not PC.
mastana Posted July 10, 2012 Posted July 10, 2012 This BKL is also complaining too much does that mean he is also a middle class citizen? :hehe:

IDK of another place than India where businesses can hold the government to ransom just because they are "outdated" and can't make money over new innovative models.

Trichromatic Posted July 11, 2012 Author Posted July 11, 2012 I did not mock middle class, says Chidambaram "I did not mock or chide anyone but made a matter of fact statement," he was quoted as saying. Chidambaram on Tuesday said that the middle class is ready to pay for mineral water and ice-cream but can't bear an increase of Re 1 in price of wheat and rice. Chidambaram completely unaware of middle class travails: Yashwant Sinha "He (Chidambaram) had probably in mind the picture of middle class kids or some upper class kids going to malls in Delhi. He doesn't know the state of the middle class in the villages of India," he added. Sinha, who was the country's finance minister during the NDA regime, further said it is the middle class, which has to suffer the most because of uncontrolled inflation. "The middle class is generally a salary class, whether in the government sector, or in the private sector, or they are professional. They are the ones, who are the hardest hit as a result of this uncontrolled inflation," he said.
