DomainK Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Still remember Indian participants running bare feet in 100 meters on live tv because someone forgot to buy them shoes and they could not afford shoes themselves. We have come a long way since, we run with shoes these days. :cheer:

Clarke Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 We will win aadha-darzan. The bewda NRIs in London better show up with dholaks and make sure we win some. If we indeed won that many (and i'm hopeful we'll do better than last time), what primary factor would you attribute to the relative improvements ? My guess as always is the growth in economy and the increased investment in sport, public/private sector or the individual such as Abhinav Bindra. What's your take ?
Vilander Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 1- inshallah why only one ? who is that pak medal prospect dude?
Lurker Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 If we indeed won that many (and i'm hopeful we'll do better than last time)' date=' what primary factor would you attribute to the relative improvements ? My guess as always is the growth in economy and the increased investment in sport, public/private sector or the individual such as Abhinav Bindra. What's your take ?[/quote'] It will depend on the sports I suppose. Shooting is primarily a rich man's sports. Same with tennis/badminton to an extent. On the other hand success in say Archery is very much driven by poor athletes that has been raised by a system (Sports Authority of India). We have always had good archers who flattered to deceive but hopefully this would be better. Athletes like boxers would be more middle of the ground I suppose. So it will primarily come down to the sports we win in.
India-KXIP fan Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 6 individual, 3 teams(archery, tennis and one more) total around 9, 10 nah bro 5-6 is realistic. The comm wealth games were home ground and I think here we won't do as well as some think.
Raghav_12 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Times have changed for sure with a positive spin. Until last Olympics, question used to be, will India get a medal or not? But now we are trying to predict the number :hatsoff:
CSK Fan Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 Ten or more medals. Am pretty optimistic this time, we will have some surprises and of course, boxing and wrestling with get a good number

Number Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Realistic chance of 6 and that I guess is a good no. for India. Hopefully will win more than that. Depends a lot on our wrestlers and boxers
Crookbond Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Manisha Malhotra and the games begin for moi, my archers getting treatment on a sidewalk since IOA didn't want to give him village access
