Yoda-esque Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 Well, people will always list the decade they grew up in as teens and list that as their favorite music. I think 70s music was pretty awesome but so were the 80s. Music then was more organic and had a lot of anger, both political and cultural. Personally,I don't like the boy/girl bands,neither do I like grunge (90s) and the 2000s are all about R&B,hip-hop and rap which does not appeal to me. Nowadays its all about marketability .Somebody writes the songs,somebody has the music and somebody else sings them. Some of the iconic and definitive songs were from the 70s: -Dancing Queen still plays at proms all over USA -The birth of Disco...looks so much better than that silly grinding of today -Staying Alive is still the epitome of cool Queen,Led Zep,Deep Purple,Clapton,Pink Floyd , Doors (OK early 70s),Bee Gees were all from the 70s.. The 80s off course were great as well with The King of Pop,the Boss,Madonna,U2 and GNR.

f.b.m Posted July 28, 2012 Posted July 28, 2012 I think this answers that question quite comprehensively. My favorite music is mostly from 2000 onwards. I think we live in an amazing era for music in a sense that we have access to a lot more (and bigger variety of) music and are more likely to find something that suites our taste. Of course this wouldn't apply to nostalgic idiots who would conclude that everything is going downhill based on Justin Bieber or something.
