Don't pay extra cash for "features" which you can live without. yaar I bought LED and Im used to watching plasma, and I agree I might need to get at least 50-55" as 3D affects should be as wide as possible else it looks a bit funny when things disappear at the edges or maybe i can just move this to a smaller room I would love to get plasma 3D but all reasonably priced ones are active (the one which have battery powered glasses) :wall:
Clarke Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Ok bought the lg 47 3d, now the problem is that I had to move 50 inch to my bedroom and it's a little too big even for a good size bedroom Btw these new TVs rock. I spent 2 hrs on it and have not tested even 1/3 features. So you had a 50 inch TV and you got another 47 inch 3D :ohmy:
dial_100 Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 I think if you are thinking of main living room tv as 3D then it is bit overkill. But like your bedroom or media room with 3D would make sense. I think 3D glasses work differently for TVs & Projectors. They are very expensive. So it cannot be affordable living room solution. I have used LED 55" in the living room but bought 3D enabled HD project. I was doing research on the glasses and found out that they cost $60-130. Thats expensive considering they will be handled by kids mostly. But my kids are ready for 3D movies at home. They love the home setup and you need quite a big room for a larger screen. 15' is absolute minimum for 55". But yeah thats my next year's budget. To upgrade it to 3D. Summers are very peaceful with a proper media solution for your family.

I can get it repaired by gettinga new lamp but that will cost a bit. I was looking for a new tv anyway, but now it is urget as the tv is already gone. ANy recommendations? There was a time I used to work for sears and I could get all these tv's for so cheap.

You can play video files through USB and it supports most formats like avi, mkv, mpeg etc. It has Wi-fi, apps which you can also download. 3D feature is cool but if you dont want it, the price will be much less.

Although I don't watch 3D much... I'm looking mirror my iPad on my TV to watch Bollywood movies on EROSNOW... Don't want to spend £90 on Apple AirPlay

Also, from personal experience, I sometimes wish that I had gone with an LG because they use a totally different technology to render 3D, with far better viewing angles, dirt cheap glasses which are very light and don't even strain the eyes (That's what the advertisements say, I am yet to experience it). Expensive replacement for glasses, need to change the batteries too often and strain to eyes is the reason I don't even bother with 3D content now. So let it be a priority because in long run, it will matter the most.

Yes, apple tv and android tv are both great and even roku is great player. They alloffer major apps which will help you play major internet content which you are subscribed for, easily on your tv. For Example, i can play put WatchEspn App, Verizon Fios tablet app to watch my live tv on any tv away from home if I have my apple tv or roku or android tv. Also if you don't like the box set up, roku has an hdmi stick which is easy to carry everywhere. Same functions as apple tv an dandroid tv. All are so good these days.

Though, now I am sure things have changed. Especially in last 5 years with extreme competition. Also with sound bars and stuff, people are now just looking at the tv with best picture quality as the audio is taken care by sound bars.
