The accident happened around 1 am, a release from the Telugu Association of North America said. Police said the car going eastbound on Interstate 40 was exiting to the I-35 on ramp when it hit a big rig on the ramp. The car slid underneath the semi, went down an embankment and burst into flames. All five people in the car were ejected and killed at the scene. Police said none of them were wearing seatbelts. The victims have been identified as Jaswanth Reddy Subbayyagari, Phanindra Gade, Anurag Anthati, Srinivas Ravi and Venkat, all from Hyderabad. Out of them only Venkat is married. All of them were software professionals working in US. TANA President Prasad Thotakura, Executive Vice President Mohan Nannapaneni, Foundation Trustee Srinivas Jarugula, TEAM Square committee chair Anjaiah Chowdary Lavu are closely working with the families and friends of deceased to provide necessary help. TEAM Square volunteers Srikanth Rava, Rajasekhar Bheemireddy and Ravi Mallapuram are helping TANA TEAM Square in making arrangements to send the bodies to India [ Images ]. Prasad Thotakura, TANA president, spoke with the Oklahoma City's medical examiner, funeral home in Dallas, and the consulate in Houston, to make arrangements to send the bodies to India. TANA expressed deepest condolences to the families and friends. It happened about 1 a.m. Friday on I-40 at the Dallas Junction. Police say a Camaro with five people inside was traveling southbound on I-235 when the vehicle veered onto an off-ramp and hit a nearby semi tractor-trailer. The vehicle was cut in half during impact. All five people in the car were ejected, police say none were wearing a seatbelt. Authorities report the body closest to the wreckage was 20 feet away. Police shut down the ramps from I-40 to I-35 southbound for six hours while they investigated and cleaned up. Police have not released the identities of any of the victims, however they believe all five are adults. The driver of the semi was uninjured. The interstate lanes and off-ramps were re-opened about 7 a.m

vvvslaxman Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 RIP . 2 miles from my house there was an accident involving 5 telugu people . 4 of them were dead. It happened last year. Drunk cop came in the wrong direction at 1 AM saturday and smashed them. Lot of telugu people unfortunately got involved in one accident or the other in recent times. Couple of accidents on the river. Few on the road.

maniac Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Sad news but hopefully will be a lesson to some of the newer batch of FOB'sthat comes in from Hyd especially because beleive me I have seen some of these kids think that they are displaying some kind of heroism by Drunk driving and not wearing seatbelts,beating traffic lights etc.... I am a FOB and I am from Hyderabad but it is a sad truth as I have witnessed a lot of obnoxious behaviour by a lot of them(hope I am not generalising or sterotyping)....My heart goes out to the families
vvvslaxman Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 RIP. One should avoid travelling at night/midnight... I have taken some traffic classes after couple of speeding tickets. They asked a question "At what time of a week more accidents occur". Per data Saturday 2 Am is the worst time to drive. The thing is even if we drive well there is high degree of probability that you could run into a drunk driver on a saturday night.
coffee_rules Posted August 10, 2012 Author Posted August 10, 2012 On long drives, I strongly avoid driving beyond 10 PM. Driving at 1 am with 5 ppl in the car..all red flags. They dont even hv to be drunk, sleep can be detrimental to life.
Texy Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Driving after mid night on a highway without seat belts......disaster written all over it...but just like many other fobs, they probably didn't pay much attention to safety/rules. RIP, incredibly tragic.
Ram Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I am a pretty good endurance driver (I can easily drive 250 miles without a break). But the two conditions that I most dread - driving at night and during rain. Though I find it hard to believe that not a single Guy wore the seat belt.
vvvslaxman Posted August 11, 2012 Posted August 11, 2012 I used to do 360 miles stretch between Bay area and Los angeles in 4 hours at night. I used to visit LA regularly. Nowadays i drive within reasonable speed limits and mostly during day. Worst case 8 pm. That's it.

That's it. you can be assured of safety when you are within 60 miles of LA, traffic only moves about 5 miles an hr.

Especially at the night. Anyway i am talking about 12 years back I am nowhere close to LA now. Lived in LA. Bumper to Bumper 70 mph. Can't forget the experience.
