too much has been made on sachin's pace issues. the fact is sachin has got a start in many of his innings. Its only an issue of kicking on. He was rusty for this series and with the ranji season coming up he will be able to concentrate on his batting before the english series Despite all of sachin's flaws he still averages 35 with the bat in the last 12 test matches (ie prior to the world cup) Compare that to 25 of Gambhir and 30 of Sehwag or even Raina....

I'm afraid I don't see Sachin retiring respectfully.... just like 99.99% of subcontinent players. They simply do not understand when the time is right for them to move on. Unfortunately, Sachin is still better compared to some other middle-order 'options' that we have atm for the test side. Another point i'd like to raise is the absolutely WORST job done by our selectors in phasing out the great middle order. Such unplanned and pathetic selection over the past 5 or so years (since ganguly was axed) has played a strong role in destroying our test side and making sure that we will be sliding down for the next few seasons

well for starters he will play mostly in the rest of India v Rajastan opener on the 25th of Sept then the champions league 2012 in south africa where he will face plenty of pace. then he comes back on the 2nd of Nov to the 5th he has railways v Mumbai (ranji opener) and even the option of Rajastan v Mumbai on the 9th First test starts in Abad on the 15th. So there are enough matches for him to get into a groove. With people like Sachin they need to be playing more often. People have to keep in mind that he played v NZ after a long hiatus when he last played in the IPL in April. Nearly 3 months without a game. Physically from what i could see he looked in top shape. I will put this down to rust.

Well Dravid's "bowleds" were analyzed too. It could be because of rustiness could be because of reflexes could be because of body slowing down.. could be because of anything.. but BCCI has to keep in mind that he cannot play forever for India with intermittent performances.
When players continue playing fwith NO performances at all, intermittent performances feel like luxuries..

I would be happy if he plays the domestic matches. But, Sachin now, prefers to practice in a different way. This has worked for him for quite some time, hope it does not go against him.

Expect him (and all others who will play CL T20) to give the Irani Trophy tie a miss due to the commitments with their franchises. Post the CL T20, at max I see him playing one Ranji match but even that will depend on the vacation schedule of the Mumbai schools. As for the bolded part, didnt he himself say no to touring SL for the ODIs? He had the option of going for a short county stint if more FC cricket was needed. Surely no county would say no to Sachin if he wants to play for them.

Come England series, Sachin will silence one and all

There is a lot of talk about Sachin Tendulkar, more than the 2-0 Test series win by India. People have started saying that it is time for him to go after the three innings in which he did not live up to the high standards he's set for himself. This is not the right assessment. He is one player who knows when to go. Sachin should not be judged on the basis of three innings but over a period of eight to 10 Test matches. There is talk about his footwork, slowness, but does one still expect him to move the way when he was 24? He has been in the fray for more than two decades, has achieved what others never dreamt of and knows how to adjust as per the situation. Yes, what has been apparent is the lack of match practice, as he had a long gap before the start of this series. Also, one shouldn't take away credit from the Kiwi bowlers as they bowled a good line to him. DonÃÕ rule him out In the past, he has been castled, but every time Sachin has found a way to bounce back. I will keenly watch him during the England series and I believe the great man of Indian cricket will silence one and all, like the way he has always done. It was a good victory for India, more so as they were playing Test cricket after a gap. It was also a good warm-up as they have two comparatively stronger teams to deal with at home in the near future. Bangalore was a superb Test wicket as it had something for everyone --- batters, fast bowlers and even spinners. Such pitches at home will help youngsters hone their skills for conditions all-round. Man for the future The men to take note of in the series were Virat Kohli and R Ashwin. Since the Australia tour, Virat has made rapid strides and it is pleasing to see the young man in action. He seems to be maturing fast and is India's man for the future. He played a knock in both the innings which was responsible for India finishing on top in a good, competitive Test match. Ashwin showed what a force he can be in domestic conditions. He has the ingredients to develop as a great spinner but has to sharpen his skills to make his mark when India are travelling abroad. He deserves the kudos but one can't overlook the contribution of Pragyan Ojha. He is someone who can get you wickets and breakthroughs even on good wickets. The duo can form a good, lethal pair in the days to come and should be instrumental in many India wins. http://www.hindustantimes.com/Cricket/ColumnsCricket/Come-England-series-Sachin-will-silence-one-and-all/Article1-925737.aspx

Sachin Tendulkar delaying retirement for fear of losing big endorsements?

NEW DELHI/MUMBAI: Just 63 runs from three innings against an ordinary Kiwi side has not only Sachin Tendulkar's army of fans worried but also managers of the 17-odd brands he endorses. After all, such wretched form has brought the R word back onto centre stage, yet again. A senior official at Toshiba - one of the brands Sachin backs - says, "Sachin's retirement should be a major concern for all brands. It's a major concern for us as well." If Sachin does decide to retire, the negotiations of the fee and terms and conditions when the contract comes up for renewal will be very different, he adds on the condition of anonymity. Canon, which had signed up Sachin in 2007, is not renewing its contract with the cricketer, which expires this December. Says Alok Bhardwaj, senior vice-president, Canon India: "As we needed to align our brand with a lifestyle positioning, we signed up actress Anushka Sharma... There was a need to move on and connect with a younger audience." He adds that Canon is now working with Sachin only for B2B assignments, but insists the decision not to renew Sachin's contract has nothing to do with retirement. "He is a legend and these things would not matter at all." Sachin Tendulkar delaying retirement for fear of losing big endorsements? Still, it's the prospect of either such outright terminations or downward revisions that is leading to dark whispers and allusions that Sachin is hanging onto his place in the side to avoid losing out monetarily. After all, although most contracts do not include retirement clauses, they do have performance clauses. "(The clauses) state that if you are not selected or not playing for six months, there would be a correction in the fee," points out Indranil Das Blah, COO, Kwan Entertainment & Marketing Solutions, a sports and talent management firm. Blah does, however, add that 50-70 per cent of the endorsement fee is usually paid up front, which limits the downside for Sachin. Also, "a lot of brands that Sachin endorses have only signed him for an annual contract, or at best two years", says Blah. He reckons that if Sachin retires, he won't have as many as 17 brands backing him, but "the three or four that do will be (deals) at a very big premium." World Sports Group, the agency that manages Sachin, vehemently dismisses insinuations of financial benefit. "I would like to go on record and say there are no such commercial considerations that impact his playing decisions. After playing for the last two decades and having become a legend in the minds of most Indians today, the passion for the game is what drives him and nothing else," says Harish Krishnamachar, senior vice-president & country head, World Sports Group (India). The brands that Sachin endorses range from Adidas and Aviva Life Insurance to Coca-Cola and Castrol, to Ujala detergent and realty firm Amit Enterprises. Among the longer-term ones, a contract with ITC for Sunfeast biscuits signed in 2006 ends in 2013. The one with Aviva was signed in 2007 and is renewable every three years. And the Coke endorsement deal signed in January 2011, expires in 2013-end.

Such voices are going to get shriller if he doesn't start scoring big soon.

I think the article are being disrespectful to the great man. Although' date=' it tells you how much he has fecked up his credibility in last 2 years[/quote'] Just like lot of articles which are unnecessarily respectful towards the Great man...theres always couple trying to make their own path by going against him... all in all...media articles are just entertainment...they do everything we want so as to cater every section of crowd...

sadly it has come to a point where BCCI must sit down with the great man and have a heart to heart discusson of what other records does he want to achieve. They can get Maldives, Bangladesh, Nepal, Afghanistan and what have to play intl. cricket in India and give him a chance to achieve. BUt to be in this perpetual denial is damaging his legacy.
