An extremely pretty girl or an above avg gurl with a super rich Dad . What would you pick ?
In most arranged situations..people generally go for similar financial status. No rich dad worth his salt is going to give his above average looking girl to any guy who doesn't have enough money to keep his little princess happy. If he does...then there is definitely a catch there and be assured that you will have to earn his money the hard way.:nervous: If I were a guy ...I would go for the beautiful one.....:--D You can earn money but you cannot buy real beauty. And if she is not pretty she will probably spend a lot of your money trying to get pretty...:hysterical: If everything else is equal....then beauty tops money. I am not considering other stuff like nature and patience and respect for elders because in arranged marriages..everyone is perfect before they are hitched....asliyat to baad mein hi pata chalti hai ...:secret:

One of the reasons - why arranged marriage is NOT for me.

Nothing is guaranteed in love marriages either. I would say that couples approaching both paths have same level playing field after a few years in the relationship. There is a lot of infatuation early on in love marriages, and situations tend to change frequently, where it becomes hard to sustain the feelings. In arranged marriages, one might not love the person initially, but with time the feelings deepen and love blossoms. And what does arranged marriage really mean nowadays? One still has the opportunity to get to know the other person. The usual engagement-courtship-marriage arrangement can give you sufficient time to achieve this. How you approach things is paramount, regardless of love or arranged marriages.

I think it differs from how you approach a marriage. I will not marry any person or make a commitment unless I know her for about 5-6 years. I do not know what it is called - arranged or love marriage but for me to decide to invest in someone I need to know the person for at least 5 years before I jump with both my feet in. Arranged marriages (unless she has been a long known friend) in India not give me such liberties. Considering this constraint, arranged marriages are not for me.

You're going to spend a significant percentage of your life arguing after marriage - might as well argue with someone pretty than ugly.
Never get into arguements, especially with your spouse. Arguements are often vulgar and always convincing. *Oscar Wilde

I thought Khota mentioned it one time..:dontknow:
I thought Khota got hitched? :dontknow: At least the overall humour quotient in his posts has taken a slight turn south wards in the recent few months. Psychologists generally attribute such behavioral changes in men to marriage.

Do not make this into a North versus South argument. :orderorder:

Khota is married? I didn't know...I thought this 'change in behaviour' coincided with him marrying ICF i.e becoming a moderator :giggle:

Coming back to the OP, that statement is quite naive. Pretty poor girl vs rich average girl. It's obviously more than that...it should be the one that you connect with. Reminds me of a field trip we as a class took in class 7-8 and were told to what attributes one would prefer in a life partner... All the adolescents were stating the physical attributes  In the end, found out that it is pretty much the similar qualities what you'd look for in a good friend i.e trustworthy, respectful, friendly ,etc. Btw, if when one is stuck between a choice and just can't choose, flip a coin. When it is in the air, you'd know which side of the coin you want to land facing up in your heart..
