Straight Drive
These players have not played long tests series. 17 man squad. Out of 17 only 2 (Dhoni and Gauti) are over 30 . Can't these youngsters play 5 tests. They play full Ranji Season year after year in more severe heat in India than what they get over 5 tests in England. Link to comment
Straight Drive
It is more a mental thing than physical. Even with our best players' date=' we rarely played 4-5 tests series and when played, we lost badly. One in WI in 2002 and one in Aus in 2003 without their best attack. They are not able to maintain intensity for such a long period. Most of the players have never played a lot if tests overseas and that created problem for them. They certainly lacked in preparation.[/quote'] Trott moved out of Ashes due to mental stress. Yardy too made way due to depression. Mental things do influence but if some cricketer has a problem they have to tell the management and make way for bench players. Why can't they do what Trott or Yardy did by accepting they lack mental toughness and need time to recover. Do all our cricketers lack mental toughness. Okay, maybe one but everyone from this squad. Do you really think that. And if you do then why are the playing and not making way for others as seen in examples. Link to comment
mishra
No matter who is the captain scoring 150 wont win you anything. And consistently dropping catches. Link to comment
Crookbond
What is the root of the problem? Each and every player in the team has been replaced or dropped in this period except Dhoni If we do not have strategy to identify long term talent, or prepare for long term tours, groom players for that or play long series, doesn't all of these boil down to BCCI and the captain You once again forget that I have said repeated times that Dhoni should be done as a captain in all formats. However, that's a start not the end. Link to comment
Raghav_12
I say the reason is 5 tests which they are not ready mentally and physically. Two tests are fine for them overseas at this point. It was also harsh on these players to play 3rd overseas test series in a row with no home tests. Kohli was bound to fail after 2 successful test series' date= but it gone worse because there was no way back for him to introspect in a back to back 5 test series. Even Pujara who looked really good in first two tests, might not have scored big, but fell away under pressure later. I think this is very important factor. 5 test match series in the foreign land could be very demanding mentally and once the mental fatigue set in, there is no easy way of coming out. That's why roles of the leader of the team and coach become more important. These batsmen are not as bad as they performed. Link to comment

However' date=' that's a start not the end.[/quote'] shelflife of a captain is not more than 4 years & Dhoni has captained for almost 7 years now if you consider the T20 world cup from 2007... thats a long time for someone to build a team of his choice. someone
I never said it would have solved anything it was in response to your post.Yes aaron did well and with yadav you would have had a more potent attack.Yes yadav is indias best test bowler. It's laughable that we are still struck with such notion. Remember when Rohit was left out of our squad, there were posters like you who were whining that Rohit is the best test batsman, made for test cricket and will solve all our batting issues. But look what happened even after he got his chance ? Just because a player didn't play implying he has no faults with losses does not make that player our best bowler. Our bowling attack in this series was way better than our batting attack. Let's be clear on this part. Link to comment

The Realist
No question of removing Dhoni as captain: BCCI The Indian cricket board has ruled out removing MS Dhoni as the captain of the Indian team after the team's poor performance in the England series and the poor overseas records, said reports on Tuesday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which has appointed Ravi Shastri as the director of the team in the ODI against England, has ruled out removing Dhoni as captain. http://indiablooms.com/ibns_new/sports-details/SN/753/no-question-of-removing-dhoni-as-captain-bcci.html :two_thumbs_up: Link to comment
