I agree with what Imran is saying. He is not justifying or advocating terrorist attacks' date= but implying that the root cause of insurgency is Kashmir. Unless, there is an effort from both sides to solve the problem, the danger looms. I hope he gets elected as the leader of Pakistan. He is a better choice than the status quo.
^let's not jump up and down. Watch this: cJvomNq_0vs
Phew! Some sense to the proceedings. I myself took the statement just like what you said. To a certain extent, it almost looks like we are guilty of labeling people from Pakistan as X. Sure, I understand the point that most of the people are X but even if there are 5 people who are not; it is a shame if we paint them with the crowd.

Insurgency? The attacks on Mumbai weren't a part any insurgency. Lets not mix the two. Killing innocent people is not an outlet for grievances, legitimate or otherwise. And 'solve the problem' is easier said than done. What India perceives as a solution (status quo) is unacceptable to Pakistan. What Pakistan perceives as a solution ( we hand them Kashmir) is neither acceptable to us nor is it going to happen.

What else do you guys expect from a leader of a terrorist country. Obviously he will support his own people who almost all are terrorists.
The issue is not just about support but actually how they justify it. It is really shocking that they justify those attacks like if it was deserved. Same thing goes for the attacks on their own people. Instead of accusing the terrorists of doing wrong, they only go by saying it is reaction to the actions of others. Thus, deserved or in other words, if you don't follow us, you will get deservedly hurt.

Spot on. I have watched Imran's politics quite closely over many years. He is what we would call a flip flopper. As for those who are outraged at his comments, you can always take comfort in the fact that man felt US drone attacks ( war on terror ) were responsible for Taseer's killing and attack on Malala.

Imran Khan vows to bring 2008 Mumbai attacks culprits to justice if he becomes Pak PM http://www.dnaindia.com/world/report_imran-khan-vows-to-bring-2008-mumbai-attacks-culprits-to-justice-if-he-becomes-pak-pm_1761722

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan has vowed to bring the culprits behind Mumbai attacks to justice, if he is made Pakistan Prime Minister. "India must understand the legal process takes time, but I will bring the Mumbai perpetrators to justice. We have to follow the rule of law," The Express Tribune quoted Khan, as saying. Khan, who is currently in India to attend the World Economic Forum in Gurgaon, assured that as the prime minister, he would ensure that terrorism does not stem from the Pakistani soil. Commenting on Pakistan's relationship with India, he said he was "in favour of a new relationship. "All these years we have had a relationship which was detrimental to the entire subcontinent. We moved one step forward, two steps backward. Mumbai came, (and) we were back to square one," Khan said Khan urged that there was a need for leadership of both countries to take on vested interests. He said young people "were tired of the continuing hostility between the two countries". Commenting on the Kashmir issue, he said that a military solution could not help resolve the issue and said that as the Pakistani premier, he would take the peace initiative. "It can be resolved. I will work on a road map by making people from India, Pakistan and Kashmiris look for a solution by sitting on a table," he said. He added: "India is using troops in Kashmir. They are losing the battle of heart and minds. It's like treating cancer with dispirin. Khan also said that terror leaders in Pakistan can be "transformed. "I am sure they can be put into nation building, human beings can change. I will make them realise that militancy is not a solution," Khan was quoted, as saying.

This is pakistan for you, governing party initially denied the attacks had any pakistani involvement, the opposition comes up with statement's like he will bring justice to what happened in mumbai 4 years ago. Overall its just dirty politics, imran khan is just playing politics by using the india-pak strained relations as mudda.

Imran Khan might be a brick short of a load but it takes a naive man like him to utter the unspeakable. Before this we had the boring routine of GoI's dispatching dossiers and Pakistani establishment paying in kind with only moral and political support to the indigenous insurgency in India. Imran is partially right when he says that Kashmir is the root cause. It is only the deluded Indians high on the secular koolaid who will say that Kashmiris want to remain with India. Our desi champions of secularism always tie themselves in knots to defend the GoI's brutal oppression of the Kashmiri will to be free from Indian occupation - "If not for Pakis sending the terrorists we'll have no need for AFSPA..". As if the insurgents operate without substantial material support provided by locals. The whole facade of a secular India will be blown to bits if the Kashmiris manage to secede. If our secular politicians can deploy hundreds of thousands of troops and enact the most oppressive laws to subjugate the will of Kashmiris then Pakistan is absolutely morally justified in supporting the indigenous resentment against Indian state. 26/11 should be seen as Pakistan's equivalent response against a morally bankrupt India (and its secular apologists) that keeps millions subjugated in Kashmir.
What do you propose at this stage ? I absolutely agree with our comments about the so called bleeding heart pseudo secular people running this country to ground, but now what do we do? Btw how is non secularist position any different ? They keep talking about Kashmir bring an integral part of India.

Let's look at some numbers - taking 2001 census numbers. Total population of Jammu and Kashmir - 10,069,917. Kashmir Valley consists of Kupwara, Baramula, Srinagar, Budgam, Pulwama, and Anantnag. They comprise a population of 5,441,341 with a demographics of roughly 85% Sunnis, 10% Shias, and 5% Hindus. Jammu consists of the districts of Punch, Rajauri, Udhampur, Jammu, Kathua, and Doda. These comprise a population of 4,395,712 with a demographics of roughly 30% Sunnis, 5% Shias, and 65% Hindus. Ladakh consists of Leh and Kargil with a total population of 232,864 with around 50% Buddhists and 50% Shias. The above gives a total Sunni population of 5,943,852 or around 59%. For even a bare majority of Kashmiris to not want to remain with India would mean that 85% of the Sunnis in Jammu and Kashmir don't want to remain with India. While that number might be somewhat in the ballpark in a couple of districts, it certainly puts a very strict bound on the number of Sunnis required to be in favor of breaking ties with India and is certainly not clear enough to say that only people high on secular koolaid will oppose the statement. BTW, the numbers don't include the displaced Kashmiri pundits which would make it even more difficult to get a bare majority for the movement in Kashmir.

I find framing this issue in ethical terms an escape to simplicity. Kashmir is a matter of great strategic importance to Pakistan because the source of much of Pakistan's river water is located in the region. Anyone who thinks the call for secession is a popular sentiment rising from the grassroots today needs to spend some time in the valley. People want to do business, they want to go to work. Indian Army excesses are shameful but far more people have endured far worse across the border and the people speak of it. FTR: 'Azad Kashmir' as it is laughingly called is the most heavily garrisoned part of Pakistan. PM me for tour operator numbers.

Hindus are not much religious people. Only a few percentage of Hindu population is religious and that s y I believe islam will overtake India in the future. Europe will become Islamic continent in few decades. That s bcoz European's Christian population is not keeping up with muslim population. Few decades back, women become more liberal and the birth control started happening there. Women chose their careers instead of giving birth to children. Muslims gave no freedom whatsoever to women and they keep their population raising. They will take over Europe and I expect a huge demographic change in Europe. Women in India are becoming more liberal, thankfully arranged marriages are still happening, women are kept in control in our culture. These days I am seeing women are not getting married and choosing careers, their life style is changing metro cities. This attitude is mostly with hindu women. Muslim women hardly live like that, they have a controlled life style, men are dominant in their religion. The day hindu women become more liberal, hindu population will decline. Already christian churches are converting lot of dalits into Christians. I predict Islam will overtake Europe in few decades and it will also overtake Hindu population in India in another 100-150 years.
