Au contraire one should only be praised after proving something. Anyways' date=' I hope he does well, I really do.[/quote'] not kt he does not praises he makes em legends he predicts after one 100 how he will be atg this should be nothing for him no?

I just cannot believe Sehwag getting selected for the ODI's despite his lackadaisical efforts in the field. This obsession with certain players has to end for the betterment of Indian cricket.

Based on potential and performances in first class cricket Shami is rightly picked in the odi side.... he needs to be given time so that he can prove whether he is a go or no go for the South African tour

Hope he does well and will be first to lavish praise if quality. Just have a feeling he will be ordinary. I would love to be wromg though. At the end of day I dont recall seeing him play. So I am in no position to judge him at all. Just repeateedly seeing trundlers play for india destroys the hope and spirit of a man
you can watch video of hsi bowling on NZ tour. He is not a finished article but has a lot of potential. here. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ol4pF_i-Hpo#

Shami and Pankaj so deserve to be in the test side' date=' the two best bowlers in India at the moment on form and potential[/quote'] Thats true. This bunch of selectors seem more idiot than the previous ones? Why have they selected Shami Ahmad for T20s? Has he done too well in this format? Or don't they know the difference between the formats and their requirements? A good bowler for longest formats will have his confidence destroyed here in this shortest format. Why can't the selectors concentrate on developing T20 specialist bowlers through IPL? We play 76 matches there, no? It is really miserable.

After one match, few ICF comments: He is rubbish, just bowls 135K , just another trundler , useless...:haha: Sometimes I feel we never had the speed gun so we can judge a bowler by how sharp he looks and how he troubles batsmen consistently.. He should be judged not based on what he does in next ODI, but how fast he'll learn to cope with bowling to international quality batsmen...

I have never seen him bowl!!! Dude I think my track record shows I am not scared to give an opionion nor bothered if shown wrong(although poster bump my threads from 8 years back thinking i will be shamed but if I was I would not start more bold threads:cantstop:) I will give my verdict when I see him bowl
I agree with you, more often than not there seems to be a lot of premature ejaculation when it comes to seamers here...Apart from Umesh and to a very little extent Aaron, most of them seem not to have what it takes at this level. Infact one of the most hated bowlers here,Vinay has outperformed some of these tailunts. Yes I am bitter after getting my hopes dashed so many times

wrong selection. He is better suited for test matches.....that's was so evident from west-indies A tour........Hope he doesn't loose confidence, if he is smacked around

Shami has been selected for the ODI side keeping the Indian selection tradition in mind in terms of giving a bowler international exposure via ODI. If he does well in ODIs, he might be in line for selection for the SA tour in 2013. Shami incidentally averages 21.36 in List-As (with a strike rate of 24.9) and 11.66 in T20s (with a strike rate of 12.8). Not bad stats at all; the only issue with Shami as of now is his lack of experience. It's good to see that the selectors have fast-tracked him to give him some international exposure.

definitly quicker than V Kumar in that video' date=' has more bounce.[/quote'] He looked the best bowler of the lot. The batsman was finding it hard to negotiate his bouncers which was bowled at an ideal chest height in the body.

fantastic video showing Shami in comparison to Veenie and Natkhat....... Veenie just bowled 2 good balls in that video to latham and Shami had him hopping around throughout barring a couple of length balls... and natkhat, the less said about him the better (unbelievable that he played a test for India  )

:fear: :fear: :fear: How tall is he ? Along with the pace issue lack of height has also been a problem for Indian fast bowlers.
Marshal, Styen, Zaheer are not very tall just around or less than 6 feet. Neither Philander is very tall. Height is important when a bowler depends more on bounce but a bowler who can swing, then heiight is a secondary issue if he has pace too. I see two things in a bowler. If a bowler is tall even if he is not really quick he can be effective because of bounce and accuracy and for a short bowler ability to swing the ball at decent pace 135+.
