Its less about muscle and bulk and more about height and action isnt it' date=' and 'wing span'. Nehra was skinny always but at his peak- 03 WC- was nippy. Steyn is hardly muscular, he is just a lean mean machine.[/quote'] yep...i cant see hoe muscles help in bowling maybe little bit effort at time of release btw just asking who is the fittest fast bowler going around? johnson?

Fast bowling is about twitch muscles.

wont believe about his pace unless i see him in action some ppl:headshake: :hysterical:
He can bowl upto 140 means he'll bowl 140 once in a blue moon and will usually trundle between 130-133 when you watch him on TV.

he is strong..actually he turned vegan this year so beef theory was wrong
high protein and lean protein is the basis. And these guys put on lean muscle and core strength training not the show type of bulk muscle.. the beaf theory is just lahori logic, padosies need to feel superior in order not to wet their pants every night that we will not kick their **** one fine day just for fun.

However, this level of big and strong is not needed or achieved by any cricketer and so becomes irrelevant. An ideal shape for a cricketer (including a fast bowler) can be gained by a vegan diet.

I'm no expert. Happily to be argued down on this. My cousin does MMA and he is a vegan and he says he can do everything with a vegan diet except get super big.

awana was selected from gatarode pace competition four years back. He bowled 138+ then. Fast bowlers have short life and they are bound to get slower when they become old. Young fast bowlers who can bowl 140s should be fast tracked atleast to A team. With proper guidance they can learn swing line and length etc. Its very rare that a pace bowler add pace when they get old. Y s it pakis keep on producing quicks? Are they racially superior? Nope. They select bowlers who bowl quick' date=' it doesn't matter if they don't know anything about swing or seam, they can learn it , but u cannot teach a bowler how to bowl fast. Its hard to explain. Not many wanna do it bcoz its harder than holding a bat and smack the ball around the park and only few people do it bcoz they wanna run in hard bowl quick and scare d batsman.[/quote'] One thing is for sure. If India had selected pacers based on just pace and taught them to be better bowlers without losing pace, we would have produced some strike bowlers atleast. Our policy of choosing "good bowlers" have produced 0 international pacers with less than 26 average or high wicket taking power.

You need to understand that you cannot tutor people about the basics of Test cricket after picking them in the side. Also, I don't remember a single consistently 140+ bowler being ignored for useless trundlers.

You create a pool of pacers with pace, tutor them and then utake some of them in tests. All the quicks won't be good but some will be. Aaron's selection is more of an exception. All this 140k is a very very recent thing in domestics. I am talking about bowlers who bowled with effort and extracted life from the pitches.

Point still stands. Name bowlers like this who selectors have ignored?

There are plenty of bowlers who bowl 130-133 in domestic but they are not talked that much. He must be quicker than that to be talked so much.

The effort was there with the Gatorade pace competition. In the first year they selected 3, the next year they selected ten. They got a stint at MRF, but none of these people who won these competitions were 140+ or anything. I still think that if you have a few guys bowling 140+ regularly in Ranji, they'll come into spotlight right away. Like VRV Singh did.

'Hope is life' I know. :giggle: We'll resume discussion when we see him in action. I'd still want to have realistic expectations, going by stuff I've seen before.

I am holding my horses too. We may get to see him in IPL.
