Two important things to consider, imo... 1. People selected for the right format. 2. People not selected after their debut season (e.g. Jiwanjot). So many have good debut seasons and they stay in the A team as their domestic record slowly gets worse and worse.

No harm if someone does really well on debut season to get on A tour. I mean if young 21 year old plays ranji season and does really well with 50 plus average, then get him on A tour. As not worried if A team wins or loses just hope to develop and create international players Probelm is if after debut season they then play for indian team is problem

Never knew Sid Kaul was bowling so well before seeing. He showed why he had two fifers in 2nd innings of the matches because of the reverse he gets.

A extended Duleep Trophy after a Ranji trophy is a must. Stupid BCCI.
Yes pointless series like Challenger and Mushtaq Ali can be cancelled and the Duleep trophy should be league type format so each team is guaranteed 4 matches and the players get to show their skills in against a higher standard of opposition

People can be selected for A team with exceptional debut in FC but not for internationals

I think, far too often, you see bowlers like Mithun, Chahar or Dhawal who have outstanding debut seasons and then do not replicate in subsequent seasons. As for batsmen, I think you look for consistency and a single Ranji season is not long enough to prove this. Several batsmen over the years have averaged over 60 over a period of several years in Ranji Trophy like Badrinath. Therefore, you need long term success to prove yourself as a batsman in the FC format imo. I'm talking of First Class cricket here. In OD cricket, you can pick people quicker but make sure they have shown at least some success in the format and are not the type of batsman who averages 25 in the format or the type of bowler that averages 40 in the format despite showing success in FC cricket because the two formats are, of course, separate.
